I did that xTeVe starts before Plex Server. It works.
It’s strange that Plex does not detect channels because it has a Polish information provider on the list:

Maybe you can use the ready EPG?

I’m not totally sure what you mean…
Webgrab+plus doesn’t come with any EPG. It is a command-line tool with a selection of data grabbers to pull EPG data from your chosen websites for your chosen channels and create your own xml file.
You have to set up a config file to tell it what channels you want from each provider (I get UK channels from Sky, US channels from yo.tv, Canadian from Canada.com etc.).
You also have to firstly update each grabber’s ini file that you are going to use so that it collects the data correctly as the ones that come with the program are often out of date (for instance, sky have changed the location of their epg data so using the ini file that comes as standard would probably just end with an error of missing data.)
The link you have put there is just a link to the ini files for the grabbers - it doesn’t asctually contain any EPG data.
Hi. How can i get a beta key?
I would like to know to please
I’d like to test xTeVe, could please send me beta key?
You’re right I was wrong. I found a Polish site that gives EPG but for $$$. I wonder why no “TV newspaper” provides such a thing.

Yeah there are a few commercial EPG providers and obviously once they’re set up it’s super easy - but I don’t like paying for something I can do myself.
The TV/Newspapers are not likely to provide downloadable EPGs as it would potentially see an increase in server costs with no return for them.
How can i get a beta key?
A Plex Pass is required.
I have a plex pass, can i get a beta key please
Could I get a beta key please?
I think I can give it a rest. It works, I do not fix it. Mayby Plex will give a better EPG base. Or the author of xTeVe will explain how to change the current EPG provided by my supplier.
Thank you for your time.
Unfortunately I have no influence on the EPG in Plex. If Plex does not show you all shows, you’ll need to use an XMLTV file for your channels.
Unfortunately the EPGs supplied by Plex are not the greatest for iptv as they are not designed for this use.
If your iptv supplier provides its own EPG in the from of an XMLTV file (most do) then xTeVe can automatically download this for you and you can tell Plex to use this instead (It is shown how to do it further up in this thread).
If your iptv supplier doesn’t have their own EPG MXLTV file available to download then you really only have 3 options…
Plex’s own
Using a commercial EPG supplier (Easy but costs $$)
Create your own (Hard to set up and takes time but gives best results)
Set up last evening with my VBox (vboxcomm.com) DVB box and it’s working nicely.
Initial setup in Plex was a bit odd - it didn’t detect xteve and when I entered the IP address+port and clicked “connect”, nothing appeared to happen. However, after waiting a while, I clicked “next” and it was ok.
One issue with Plex’s guide (not xteve), which I might raise with the Plex team: VBox’s XMLTV file doesn’t give channel icons and Plex doesn’t display the channel name in the guide, so as I scroll down I have no idea which channels I’m looking at.
I’ve created a start script and a check script for xteve, run by cron on my Plex server, so that it stays running.
Great work, marmei! Using this via Plex is way better than the other options I had with the VBox; loving it!
I have an EPG from my supplier. xTeVe works greate beaceuse, it’s converted to mine from xml.gz to xml and works! I have something like this:
That’s because Plex uses the parameter channel id from the xmltv file for the first column.
Yes, that is the same as how it looks if I use the one from my supplier. There is nothing that can be done about it as that’s how the xmltv file is written by your iptv supplier. Neither xTeVe or Plex can change this.
You could change it manually - but this would be a long process and it would need to be done every single time your EPG updated. Basically if you open the downloaded xml file you will see sections for each channel like this…
The highlighted blue section is the channels information (for 2 channels). Changing the ‘display-name’ should change what shows as the channel name in Plex There mat be more than one ‘display-name’ - you should only need one. The ‘icon scr’ link is a http link to the channel logo
You could keep a copy of all the channels in a separate notepad file and each time you download a new EPG you would just need to copy and paste my saved channels data over the one in the downloaded file - this way it will continue to use your changes each time (as long as the ‘channel-id’ doesn’t change. Obviously the initial time it takes to setup depends on how many channels you have but once it is done it is easy because it is just copy and paste - you just have to remember to do it each time you download a new copy of the EPG.
I have now worked out how to use free web hosting to store channel logos and have Webgrab+plus add them to my EPG automatically (It already did it for UK channels but not USA/Canada). Now by creating a Task Schedule I can have my EPG download automatically, xTeVe update my streams automatically and Plex combine the 2 automatically ![]()
Thanks for you work marmei

That’s great to hear. Can I count on instructions for noob? Maybe I would sit over the Polish version of EPG. Hosting could be on my NAS maybe.
The most difficult part by far is learning how to use WebGrab+Plus.
I would suggest downloading that first and learn how to create the EPG for your channels. Its not something that I can offer much help with as everyone’s setup for it will be different depending on the channels that they require. Once you are able to download the EPG data I can explain how to change some of the settings to make it work/look better in plex
