xTeVe - IPTV for Plex DVR

That looks freaking awesome being able to sort channels ftw!

Now the assignment of the channels is fun again. :joy:

happy to upload mine! I’m the one having weird compatibility issues with the XMLTV that my provider includes

Interesting link, thanks for sharing. It looks as if that project is heavily in development with 3 major releases in the last few days and many contributors. If this project is based on that work then an acknowledgment would be courteous.

Again for those who may think that xTeVe is a copy or fork of Telly. No!!!

As I wrote at the beginning, I also used Telly, but I missed a few things.

Telly and xTeVe share two commonalities.

  1. Both are programmed in Go https://golang.org/.
  2. Both have the goal to use Plex DVR with IPTV.

Only the way there is completely different for both.
Telly has functions that xTeVe does not have and xTeVe which Telly does not have.
Even people from the Telly environment got beta keys from me to look at xTeVe.

So, is an Audi car a copy of a BMW just because they both drive on the same tire?

Those who are happy with Telly or some other solution should use them a long way.

Wow amazing ā€œā€" Sort and mapping channels in the web interface ā€œā€" awesome when will be available this feature ??

I have another issue.

I currently have xTeVe setup as 3 Tuners with my self created xmltv guide file. It was previously working fine with no issues when set up as 1 tuner, however adding the extra tuners in xTeVe has pulled up an issue in Plex with the guide - it is now showing every programme 3 times!

The duplicate programmes line themselves up after the 1st ones so at first look like they follow after but clicking to reveal the programme data shows the times are the same as the first one.

If I increase the tuners in xTeVe to 4 they show in the guide 4 times, reducing to 2 shows 2 times etc.

It seems as if Plex is seeing each of the tuners in xTeVe as separate channels (maybe seeing the channel id 3 times) and thinking it wants separate programmes for each.

Did you ever restart Plex?

It will take a few more weeks. I am currently optimizing the newly built XMLTV feature of xTeVe.
I also want to continue testing XMLTV files. For me it is important that it works.

Restarting Plex fixed it :+1:

I’m having an ongoing issue still with the guide replicating episodes rather than using the xmltv data - I think this is a Plex issue though - eg. there are 2 episodes of The Simpsons on tonight… my xml has the data for both episodes but the Plex guide is saying they are the same episode one after the other

Yes this is also a Plex problem, currently xTeVe does not edit the XMLTV file. The file is only downloaded and saved in the tmp folder.
Look in your XML file, if there really are two different Simpsons episodes.

this is cool plugin, I am start testing tonight. I have a question only, my M3U list a little bit crowded, more than 6k, most of them VOD and some countries that I don’t want to see (I don’t know that langs) I saw an filter for country do you have a filter for groups? or any other way to remove VODs

Best way to watch and record IPTV by far

Yeah, the xml data is correct. I knew that it wasn’t xTeVe and I’ve started a new topic about it in the dvr section to see if anyone else has any issues the same.

Plex is taking the first episode and using the data for all the following episodes regardless of the xmltv file.

What IPTV providers are people using that allow multiple streams mainly bothered about UK channels

You can filter by anything, name, group, etc. Just try it. It always depends on the list. xTeVe also shows you the filtered channels at the top (blue triangle)

Thanks for the confirmation, it wasn’t clear hence the question. The project interests me greatly.

One reason why I’m sticking with Tvheadend is the ability to map multiple services (providers) to the same channel and set priorities for which one it should use first. I imagine a lot of people have backup providers (as I do) and having this fallback solution works extremely well. Is this something you have added or plan to add?

Another reason is I like to use my HDHomeRun tuner for the free uk hd channels (bbc one hd etc) and Tvheadend allows that level of configuration. Would this be something you will support in the future?

Keep up the good work, as a developer I know it’s hard work

I have had a play with the others but I have found this to be much more stable

Not sure if that was addressed at me, but I have not had any stability issues using tvhproxy (run in docker) with Tvheadend. The advantage of this would be removing the need for that additional step (ie using Tvheadend), however for me I also use Tvheadend to serve various Kodi clients throughout the house…as I still prefer live tv in Kodi. Plex for me is mostly used as a DVR.

I sent you a PM message for Beta Key
