xTeVe - IPTV for Plex DVR

Good question.
Just did a restart, to make sure. Interesting - setup looks ok now. shame on me :see_no_evil:

But playback does not work at all.
Errorcode: s1001 (network)
or it ā€˜stalls’ with ā€œKanƤle einstellenā€ - so ā€œsetting channelsā€

The m3u8 file itself does playback in vlc

Plex does not support m3u8 playlists. Only MPEG transport streams (TS) are supported.

Thats bad news.
I was hoping to get an improvement over LiveTVH. :innocent:
Which by the way can playback the same files. but I geuss tvheadend does the heavy lifting in this case.

For most providers, you can change the streaming format.

I guess so. But as it is not a ā€˜real’ IPTV-Service the streams are publicly available as they are. :unamused: But at least thy are …

Well, back to the drawingboard .

Thanks for your extremely fast help!

Can you send me the link from the playlist?

Sure,
https://daserstehdde-lh.akamaihd.net/i/daserstehd_de@629196/index_7_av-p.m3u8

is the one I was playing with. But its only a part of a giant list. Not a perfectly up to date repo, but really nice.

That’s way sooner than a couple weeks!! Will definitely be giving this a try tonight!!

ARM versions are not compiled yet?

My mistake , the ARM version is now available too.

Thanks for the fast reaction.

I have multiple IPs assigned to my device and xTeVe didn’t choose the primary one. Where can I edit the IP address for xTeVe?

xTeVe displays the first IP address of your network card, but you can also enter a different IP address / domain name in Plex.
The routing is handled by the operating system.

I have virtual interfaces added to my NIC (eth0:1, eth0:2…) but appearantly I had to add eth0 in /etc/network/interfaces as well to make it the ā€œdefaultā€. xTeVe was reachable from any of those IP addresses anyway, so it was only a cosmetic issue. But I fixed it now, thanks

Loving the channel mapping… Makes adding any new channels much much faster

The macOS version is also coming as DMS via safari, if I try chrome it arrives as a text file for me. Both cannot be executed/unarchived. Am I missing something obvious? Thanks

sTeVe is a binary file. Open Terminal:

cd /path/to/xteve/
chmod +x xteve
./xteve

Thanks for the quick reply and explanation. Is there any chance of a docker version?

Someone created a Docker version earlier. Come in the Discord channel, there is the link.

I’ve run into another issue…

I leave Plex and xTeVe running 24/7. The past 2 days when I have come to my PC, xTeVe has closed for some unknown reason (no reboot of PC). This isn’t an issue as I am the only one using it and so can just reopen it.

However, this morning I reopened it as normal, it opened fine but Plex was reporting no active channels. I checked with xTeVe and the channels are there. I’ve then gone into the xTeVe mapping and all the channels are still showing that I have mapped them but the green indicator has turned red…

To reactivate I am having to go into each channel and switch the ā€˜channel id’ to a different one and back.

Any idea why they would have deactivated?
Is there a quicker way of switching the channels back on?
