xTeVe - IPTV for Plex DVR

Question: what if the channel is a generic one, i.e. with Movies, Sports and News? What shall we put in the PMS category?

I will add a feature to disable the categories as well. Then your EPG provider must also transmit the categories correctly

Or maybe create new custom ones (such a Generic, Cartoons, etc…)

I had tried that before, Plex knows only these 4 categories

If its a mixed channel I use ā€˜Series’. This way the enhanced guide should match any TV shows while movies/sport/news should just use the information from the xml

So, I’m a ā€œtellyā€ user and have observed the following after instaling the Plex pass server beta:

Yes it does seem to support this. I’ve done 6 test recordings at 5 hours each (by extending the time after program scheduled stop time). 5 of them recorded to completion, I believe my provider went down for the sixth one. I almost never had recordings go that long before the beta patch. That’s the good news. The bad news Plex now seems to timeout quicker on the initial connection. If I set Telly to run through ffmpeg it seems to timeout more often than not. If I don’t run Telly through ffmpeg then the recording always starts (and of course switch from m3u8 to TS), but inevitably the audio goes out of synch after a ā€œhiccupā€ in the stream.

There doesn’t seem to be a ā€œtellyTVā€ forum here which is why I posted here. I’ll give xTeve a try this weekend. Plex being Plex, I’m afraid this is ā€œwhat is intended and it works fine, anyone having problems should switch to Emby or somethingā€.

Nothing important is stored in the tmp folder. The whole configuration is saved in the user folder.

Backup / Restore will come

Sorry for a basic question: where to put the file ā€œxteveā€ downloded from the site and how to install it au launch it for configuration. Please provide us an explanation. Thnks

what os are you running it on?

for linux just download it and do something like this

./xteve_linux -port=ā€œ8111ā€

then in the dvr section of plex you can choose manaul ip and enter the ip and port (in my case 127.0.0.1:8111) then click connect and next.

Ok, thanks, it works great. The only issue is after the setup, i don’t see the DVR section in Plex player for Android TV, rather than in the Plex Media player in my macmini

you see it in the plex server? for plex clients you need to make sure the user has dvr access if you goto settings -> Home Users -> Restrictions check the box that says allow access to live tv. Also i believe that the user also needs to have access to the DVR libraries used for recording

Two points:

  1. how can you disable (or modify) the login/password of xTeVe? Is a restart of the app needed?
  2. it seems that it is not possible to connect to xTeve at the same time from two devices. If so, would it be possible to add an error message that someone is already connected to it?

Thanks!

you da man
thanks again

Yes i see Direct Tv with The guide in Plex Server, in the client side my account is the owner one, so i have no restrictions at all, and no extra settings in Home Users panel for me. Bizarre !

Disable / Enable: Can you find in the settings
Change of password / user name: In the Users menu

xTeVe does not have to be restarted

So after I update channel mappings what is required for plex to pick them up? i have in the past deleted the tuner and readded it but i am assuming there is a better way to do this

You do not need to delete the tuner. In the Plex DVR settings you have to activate new channels first, so that they are visible in the guide.

the channels in the channels section of the tuner does not show the new channels … and a scan results in 0 channels.
