The mapping is based on the filter and the M3U playlist, changing your provider for the M3U playlist is all gone. You can change the XMLTV file at any time, then only the channels are deactivated. You can not sort the table. Maybe I’ll implement that yet. There is now a search function in the mapping menu.
I made use of that today to add some dummy xteve data. ![]()
A sorting according to the order in the XMLTV or according to the channel names would be great!
Not sure if its the same but I wish xteve would go in order by whats in the m3u file, I’ve tried editing it and somehow it wouldn’t read it, one time, it lost auto grabbing the channels to the correct channel/guide list.
Even tried using the xteve.m3u that it makes after modifying on webui but that didn’t seem to work at all and probably reasons why it stop’d auto listing the guide to the correct channels.
I even added another guide from another source, like adding my antenna for channels and somehow I couldn’t add it with xteve bc my channels disappeared. Any reasons why it would do that?
End results I had to start over from scratch and re# them without adding another source.
Also wish there was a way to edit the channel guide info for certain channels, for those that don’t have a list to grab from besides to name it a dummy.
The internal data processing took no account of the order of the M3U. This is because at the beginning of development the mapping function did not exist. The order has given Plex. That was also a reason for the development of the mapping function. Considering the successors of the M3U would be very complex and brings with it other problems. In my experience, 98% of users are not satisfied with the order of the M3U, especially if you use several.
I am only aware of two reasons that the mapping is misleading.
- Some NAS systems delete the xTeVe folder after a reboot
- There was a Windows Update, which has deleted the content of the user data for some users.
- Or you may have changed the filter after mapping so some channels have been removed.
ok. 2nd q is. adding 2 sources for m3u and xml, the channels dont show up no more.
I have added my 2nd m3u into my 1st m3u is a success but no guide sadly. is there a way for that to work?
bc leaving a place for xml doesn’t show up any channels either until i delete the 2nd xml out.
Unless if possible to copy from 2 xml files into one xml file to be imported into xteve.
Without seeing it, it’s hard to say what’s not working for you.
I also have 2 M3U playlists and 4 XMLTV files. Everything works for me. But I do not edit the files.
Incorrectly edited M3U or XMLTV files can break a lot.
I try to make it look closely identical with my antenna links with my iptv
iptv:
before: m3u
#EXTINF:-1 catchup=“default” catchup-source="" catchup-days=5 tvg-name=“FreeForm HD” tvg-id=“I311.59615.schedulesdirect.org” tvg-logo=“http://.tv/logos/usa%20freeform%20hd.png” group-title=“United States”,FreeForm HD
after: xteve m3u
#EXTINF:0 channelID=“x-ID.525” tvg-name=“FreeForm HD” tvg-id=“495” tvg-logo=“https://s3.amazonaws.com/schedulesdirect/assets/stationLogos/s59615_h3_aa.png” group-title=“United States”,FreeForm HD
Antenna
#EXTINF:0 tvg-name=“NBC 2” tvg-id=“I392.11705.scheduledirect.org” tvg-logo=“https://s3.amazonaws.com/schedulesdirect/assets/stationLogos/s10991_h3_aa.png” group-title=“United States”,NBC 2
#EXTINF:0 channelID=“x-ID.251” tvg-name=“NBC 2” tvg-id=“2201” tvg-logo=“https://s3.amazonaws.com/schedulesdirect/assets/stationLogos/s10991_h3_aa.png” group-title=“United States”,NBC 2
not sure if having the tvg-id in for that matters or not bc thats the only channel I did and the rest of my antenna channels, I just left it blank for that section. and left the rest of my m3u at #EXTINF:-1
When I joined the 2 xml files together with linux cmd, gave me a error with “nil” with no loaded channels.
Guessing the file is to large or some thing to read.
im at 262 channels, haven’t added the rest of the antenna in file yet
With which Linux command do you have the second XMLTV file where added?
cat /home/user/Downloads/xmltvantenna.xml > /home/user/Downloads/iptv.xml
when i did ‘sudo sysemctl restart xteve’ I loaded gui and gave out an error.
also have done " cat /location/file1.xml /location/file2.xml > /location/file3.xml "
for my antenna guide import, I use zap2xml.pl to download my listings if that helps.
Curios how Plex of where it gets its data from, yea from a zip code but has to connect to somewhere to get the guide from.
Are the XMLTV files in UTF8 format? What does the error look like?
one of the errors is
“XEPG requires an XML file” when joined files. iptv + antenna xml
the other im still trying to get that error again. somthing about “nil.”
I suspect your XMLTV files are broken. Can you send me one?
Been running for quite some time now on 2 qnap servers.
Both crashed out over time but managed to record about a weeks worth of shows (hundreds). Still amazing it recorded tons
This is with servers running fine but knew one provider had issue so possible m3u or XMLTV was down
It simply rocks thank you
I manually restarted xteve and had to map channels again to get it working again
Any chance we can get saved mapping , and saved m3u with checking if any changes and keeping the local file if no changes on restart
Would be great to have auto restart on hang with monitor or ping
New user, thanks for this plugin. Just set it up on Mint. I provided the m3u and EPG files. However, none of my channels are automatically mapped. I have to manually edit each channel, select the XMLTV file and then the appropriate XMLTV ID. Any ideas why this mapping is not done automatically? Thanks
Auto Assign works only if the IDs of the M3U and XMLTV file match
M3U: tvg-id
XML: channel-id
I do not know where QNAP saves the settings, but if you copy the folder to a computer, you have a backup.
But there will be a backup function in xTeVe.
I am using the XMLTV mapper in Xteve , but it appears to create its own channel numbers. The channels are in some random order and it makes it a pain to search through them in plex. Is there a way to renumber the channels in Xteve? I tried sorting the M3U file before importing it, thinking maybe I could at least set the order that way , but that did nothing. In the mapper the channels are not in the order they are in the M3U.
As an example my NFL channels which should all be one right after the other in the guide, are mixed though (Channel 1001, channel 1040, Channel 1045, etc ,). With 200 channels, its not a nice experience to try and find what I am looking for in the guide on plex.
If you click on the number on the left, you can change the numbers. The order will then be taken over by Plex.
Duh! thank you. I clicked on the number before, but was expecting a popup box , did not notice that I could actually type over the existing number. After working on this for about 8 hours straight (was using tvheadend and tvhproxy first) I was a little burned out. Thanks for the quick reply.
