Thanks.
Currently I run Xteve with my Plex on Windows 2016, the server has 64GB of RAM, 24 threads (2.8Ghz), the OS runs on an SSD along with Plex and XTeve connected to an IBM M5015 RAID controller fully unlocked. The server is bare bones.
My questions are with respect to the XTeve Cache where does it get that from? Does it create a file on the SSD or does it grab it from RAM?
Also is there any benefit to having XTeve on it’s own box?
I have room on my ESXi to spin up a W2019 image to run XTeve if need be.
The problem I have is the stations cut out from time to time. I have tried setting the cache from 0.5MB to 6MB and found 0.5MB and 3MB works well for stations but going above 3MB causes problems with loading up other channel. I am testing this from my local network, I sit right next to my servers.
I am open to your input.
Thanks,
@Doch74 Create Filters and divide your channels up. So I have 6 filters on my Plex DVR and 545 channels. If I had put all the channels under one filter Plex would be having a hissy fit.
there is no cache. The buffer stores the stream in the tmp folder of your OS. The XMLTV and M3U files are saved in the data folder. Paths are all in the xTeVe log at start.
The buffer only solves Plex compatibility problems and small network fluctuations. If you have problems with streams, it is usually due to the source or the connection between the source and your Internet connection. It makes a difference whether the source has 10 or 100k open connections.
Is there anyway to point the temp folder to a different drive so its no on the same drive as everything else?
Also playing around with XTeve last night I found VLC 32bit works better than the Xteve engine(?) once you adjust the VLC stream output.
Thanks,
sorry I’m going crazy to fix xteve and make many attempts but without any positive results
when i add xmltv it looks ok
after loading the m3u playlist but this error comes out in the logs
2020-06-26 19:52:17 [xTeVe] [WARNING] There are no channels mapped, use the mapping menu to assign EPG data to the channels.
and therefore I have to load all the channels by hand
a way that takes epg automatically at least in part ??
Exists??
Where am I wrong ??
thanks for your guidance
I have examined it
in the example file m3u write this
#EXTINF: -1 CUID = “1000” tvg-id = “news.channel.1” tvg-name = “News Channel 1” tvg-logo = “http://example.com/logo1.jpg” group-title = “UK: News”, News Channel 1 HD
http://example.com/stream1.ts
while in my list there is this string
#EXTINF: -1, Rai 1 H265
http: // xxxxxxxxxxxxxx: 8080 / aaaaaa / aaaaaaaaa / 110794
#EXTINF: -1, Rai 1 Full HD
http: // xxxxxxxxxxxt: 8080 / aaaaaaaaaa / aaaaaaaa / 25337
can the problem be there ??
how can i solve it ??
You don’t need all the ids. I don’t have them either. Just map your channels as the log tells you…
could you write an example ??
thank you
You go to “Mapping” and map the channels to the corresponding one of your xmltv file.
Your M3U does not contain any IDs, so you have to map everything manually.
finally thanks to your help I succeeded in the venture
I ask you
since now i have fixed all channel logos epc etc.
I’d like to do a full backup
how can I do??
because I have another server and I would like to backup so I don’t do the configurations again
thanks again for your help
Hi, I have a. few questions:
Trying to figure out if how I can update Plex so that if there are new channels in xteve, ie updated filter/playlist I dont have to delete/reload the DVR to get new channels to show up.
What logs do I look in when I am having issues with the Plex Channel Mapping? I have gone through the Plex setup and at the final screen. When I hit Continue I get “There was a problem saving your DVR. Please try again.”. I can remove a bunch of channels and it works but I want to figure out what particular channel is causing the error.
Thanks
First question – how many channels are you trying to add? I believe Plex still has like a 400 limit …
So in my setup if my xteve mappings change I no longer have to delete the entire DVR.
If you go into your PMS / Settings / Live TV & DVR and see your DVR, hit the number of enabled channels there - it will say something like:
220 channels - 175 enabled
That enabled link will open and all I have to do is enable and perhaps choose a mapping for new channels, or channels that have been moved or changed in xteve. After you hit “Save” it will trigger a new guide update.
So for me its better than it used to be, but there is no way to automate the process. Make sure you update the xteve playlist and xmltv first.
Thanks for responding. So on xteve it shows after the filtering that I have 111 available streams out of 3094 and it shows I have 111 XEPG channels.
So I noticed I wasnt getting the channels and channels enabled option you mentioned so I rebooted Plex and now things seem to be working better. I can add/remove channels and dont get the message anymore about there being a problem with the DVR. Will continue playing with this. Thanks for your help.
