I literally said that I had two streams or tuners set however you like to call them in xsteve, but when I set up live TV in Plex it was only seeing that xteve had one. Very clear what I was saying. Just a buggy thing and deleting everything and setting it all up again seem to fix it. The setting in xteve is also called “Tuners/streams” so I’m not sure why you’re acting all obtuse about it like I was using the wrong terms or something.
I am not interested in any kind of discourse. If you have something to discuss about XTeVe then please by all means, discuss it. Otherwise, I have no other comment for you. If you FEEL like you need to comment. Please do so else where…
I will continue to re-iterate; you LITERALLY did not explain your problem in any meaningful way. Next time, perhaps you might want to add more detail than what might seem obvious to you…
Interesting. I’m running the latest public PMS (1.19.5.3112) and XTeVe channels appear for selection fine.
The one issue I am having however is some channels don’t play on Android. They start paused and remain paused.
But these same channels, in Plex, will playback ok in the Web client.
I’m wondering if it’s a codec issue on Android - does anyone have any recommendations on for transcoding streams fvia the ffmpeg command?
I have a similar issue that only presents on Android (Sony Android TV and Fire TV). Some streams stutter and have no audio.
In the log @ 12:16 12:17 I play a channel that works. @ 12:18 12:19 I play a channel that doesn’t work.
Log.txt (290.5 KB)
@whoa quite probably, but in my case the only time I use the Web UI is to check stuff while on my PC so its not an issue (I don’t watch shows).
But worth mentioning as I nearly gave xTeVe a miss due to your comments.
@Antigravity_83 I managed to resolve my issue by using ffmpeg in xteve to encode the audio. It seems Plex Live TV is having issues with some AAC streams on Android.
Use this string in ‘FFmpeg Options’
-hide_banner -loglevel error -i [URL] -c:a libmp3lame -vcodec copy -f mpegts pipe:1
@niallparry_hotmail.com I find VLC to be much more reliable and better performance than ffmpeg
Thanks mate I’ll give that a shot. Seems to be the only real issue with my setup- other than streams being a little slow to start.
Thank you so much for this fix. Live tv on my Shield via Plex has been bugging for ages, and this fix works for the audio glitches I had been experiencing.
There is some discussion in this thread about PMS working better with xTeVe with earlier versions, so I gave it a go and I can confirm after spinning up a version 1.18.4.2171 server (windows), the issue I had with recordings never finishing no longer exists. Occasionally recordings don’t start with - Recording failed, please check your tuner or antennae but this seems more like a problem with my iptv service.
I remember having a similar problems awhile back. It was not a xteve problem, but more of a plex database problem. I started plex for scratch and the issue was solved.
So random question, I have xTeVe setup. Runs great, how does it work if I’m connecting to the stream outside my network, does Plex just redirect me to the source or is it going through my server at home to my device? I don’t have it set to transcode in xTeVe if that helps
Has anyone got the Plex - XTeve - IPTV working reliably?
Provided XTeve the M3U file under ‘Playlist’. Provided the EPG under ‘XMLTV’.
Mapped 47 channels that I wanted under ‘Mapping’.
Provide Plex my M3U from Xteve (192.168.x.x:34000/m3u/xteve.m3u)
Provide Plex the EPG from Xteve (192.168.x.x:34000/xmltv/xteve.xml)
A few channels will show up, but never consistently. Channels aren’t named, just 1004, 1005, etc. Unknown airing on most of them. Often I get: Playback Error
Could not tune channel. Please check your tuner or antenna.
Often lots of buffering too.
Works fine with my phone and Web Video Caster.
Any help is appreciated.
you need to use logos, plex will not show the channel name in the grid view on the clients (the android tv client that is). if you check the grid view on the webclient, you’ll notice the channel name is indeed there …
yes, i know. odd choice made by plex to leave channels without a logo “empty” like this, but hey … at least u know why it’s doing that ![]()
please check (preferably with some other app) if the EPG you supply indeed has some entry/data there, and if everything seems right with the data. i have an EPG supplier that uses weird characters that cause (sometimes) the extended description to be garbage … those tend to turn into “Unknown Airings” on plex.
the only thing you could try for this, is to use either FFmpeg or VLC as the stream buffer setting. that’s in the xteve settings.
Thanks mate - this seems to have done the trick! All streams play on Android now!
All streams from local plex media and devices, including xteve virtual tuner, are from your plex server
Can a mod / dev take a look at the logs please and investigate why some channels do not play natively on Android devices?
I believe it is some kind of audio decoding error. I have seen 2 kinds …
- Non existing PPS
- Non existing SPS
Have you tried changing the save ‘Location’ for your recordings?
Mine was set to a random folder, so I changed it to my DVR folder. and resolved a similar issue.
Not sure which location you are referring to, I thought you could only record to an existing library ?
I’ve tried various locations for the transcoding folder both for plex and xTeVe, moving it to SSD thinking this was a performance problem but it didnt make a difference.
