Year tag only available in album view

Hi

I know there are several older threads about this issue but I didn’t find a solution for my problem.
In Plex, the “album view” shows you the year of any album or track but this field becomes empty when I switch to the track view of my music library.
I use plex on a freenas with advanced library (and have a plex pass).

I tried changing the year to “yyyy-mm-dd” and now the year column in plex is showing the current year for all the tracks, even if the year is different.
For example a song with the “year” tag 1997-01-01 will be displayed as the year 2020 in Plex (if I use the track view).

Can I display the correct value of the “year” tag in plex with the track view?

I took the time to read some more topics about my own question, Some members of this forum are saying “year tags are only available in album view”
This can’t be true right?

As a DJ I never use album views.
Usually I buy single tracks (Beatport, Itunes store, ect.) and when I buy an album I will analyse every track of the album and put each track in the correct playlist sorted by genre.

If I want to listen to music I open a folder or a playlist of a specific genre (for example “progressive house”) and I sort them by year.
I need to be able to see the year of each tracks because some playslists have hundreds of tracks from the 80s till today so it’s not possible to sort by name.

This is all possible in Itunes, Serato and Recordbox but not in Plex I’m affraid (I hope I’m wrong).
Apparently Plex can’t do the most basic tasks for music libraries, it’s useless without this unless you are a person that only buys albums.

For your information, I used Plex mainly for movies since a few years (works great), I don’t want to use Plex as my main program to manage my music collection but it would be nice to be able to use it as an extra music player (on a phone or TV) and just be able to group or sort tracks by genre and year.
