I wish there was a way to “unaccept” an answer. I thought the solution was to log in using my email rather than my facebook account, as @OttoKerner suggested. However, today I was forced to re-login on two different computers. Obviously, Plex has an issue here.

We are looking into this.

Do you happen to have secure connections disabled under network settings?

When I have that disabled it seems to be more frequent that it times out that has been my experience.

I have experienced this issue both with a Plex server running locally on my Mac and with a Plex server running on a LAN-attached NAS, and with web players running simultaneously on Chrome and Safari.

In one case I had playback running from the local Mac server and rendering correctly on the web player in Safari and right next to it the web player in a Chrome window said it couldn’t find the server. Nuking the server and restarting it gave the “expired credentials” message - logging in again allowed reconnection in both web player windows.

I’m also seeing this issue. It happens several times a week while accessing Plex Web from Chrome. It occurs on both the server machine and my Mac laptop.

I’m a complete noob when it comes to cryptographic security, but does anyone think this kind of flaky behavior would be reduced if A) I stuck to using only my Synology NAS as the Plex server and 2) got a real-life SSL certificate for my NAS so that I could secure all my connections to it without waivers?

Certificates have nothing to do with this issue.

Besides, you already get a globally valid and trusted TLS certificate automatically, as soon as you sign in your server to your plex account.

Thank you for the link. I was not sure that the cert was valid because I was sometimes seeing this in my browser, after which I had to waive a security query to proceed:

This started a month or so ago where it happened once a week on 4 different computers (3 Windows and 1 Mac all using Chrome) and on my phone. It has been increasing in frequency to once a day now.

Here too … every few days…

Same issue here. Plex Server on PC, Rasplex as client. Every day now I have to sign in again…

I have a new amazon fire 8. It had worked fine for about a month. Yesterday, I got the “credentials expired…” message and since then it will not stay signed in more than a minute before expiring again. I have removed all plex data and unistalled the app from the device, and removed the device from the server side. Rebooted both and reinstalled the app and i am still getting the same results.

This does not appear to be a problem on any of my other devices (iphone, ipad, windows computer…)

I’m getting this on my Amazon Fire 7 for the past few days. Can’t sync properly because of it

Im getting it In my Web browser as well as my mobile app on the Galaxy S8+

Any news on this? It’s been almost 6 months?

I am also facing this issue

Having the same issue here. From looking at forums it seems like a common problem unfortunately.
