Your Opinion: Lossless music files

Greetins, is your plex music library lossless or just mp3 bitrate? Does it matter much? I listen to 99% classical music, usually thru the internet radio (Venice). Since probably the commercial streaming services are mp3 bitrate I just use that as well for my own personal plex library (320 bitrate). Jez curious how others can hear the diff. Never headphones here cuz i gotta hear THE orchestra (grin).

ps. my first classical album was Carmen (Solti 1976)

as more an archivist, versus an audiophool, I rip to lossless, but I still have mounds of old mp3’s and other lossy formats from before I learned about flac.

anyway as you get older, your hearing (and vision no doubt) declines, so even if you could hear a difference when you are young, it won’t matter so much later in life.

so as with video, I rip and where possible leave it in the native/original format, even if it takes up more space and I can’t tell the difference anyway.

Lossless, FLAC.
For my ears it is a must. Particularly with classical music.

heh. A good portion of legendary performances are mono  But sometimes it is strange to hear Britten/Rostropovich in 96 bit high fidelity remastering whatevs, for sure.

brittenROSTROPOVICH

The difference between mp3 and flac is not stereo vs. mono.

Alas the difference between 1960s and after y2k is.

Sorry, you lost me here.

But I agree that it is quite pointless to release old Rostropovitch recordings in 96/24.
