Youtube library may sound stupid but with the ridiculous level of ads on youtube you’ll love to step away from it.
I recently discovered an app called YouTarr, it allows you to add youtube Monitor Youtube channels and download their videos automatically.
But the issue i have is Plex DOESN’T support native thumbnails or Channel like home pages for those accounts. This would make plex an incredible beast for me.
Are you sure? When I download a YT video I have the thumbnail embedded. It will show up on Plex, I just have to manually select it. I do it mostly for some sports podcasts. I create a folder and typically prefix the date to the filename. Once Plex recognizes it, I manually add the “episode” title. If I’m lucky, I can post a poster I can use to identify the show.
If you google, there are a few people that have tried automating it more. Some of the approaches are a bit old, so I don’t know if they work anymore. Some require a bit of effort to setup. For the little bit I import, wasn’t worth it for me.
I‘m somewhat skeptical if Plex would ever build a feature to embrace pirating YouTube‘s content (bypassing YouTube‘s business model of showing you ads and tracking your usage). That’ll just bring them into bad position and exposing them to possible litigation.
