I’m running the stable version of Rasplex on a Pi 2 using plexpass.
I’ve just tried implementing users so that children can only access certain libraries.
This works fine on the web interface and android client.
On Rasplex the different users are available to select, but after I select one the menu down the left hand side just shows “Search” repeated. I don’t see my libraries.
Make sure you’re logged in on RasPlex, if you select a user and then from the screen where you just see search, press over to the left (left arrow or left on remote). Should see the menu for preferences, restart, shutdown, etc… If “Sign In” is an option then your RasPlex hasn’t been connected to your Plex account or it has lost the connection. Mine has lost the connection a lot since Plex had that mess a few weeks ago, I’m thinking I’ll have to reload it at some point.
Which version of Rasplex is installed, suggest installing 1.0.3 (latest release), to get this go to Preferences->System->Software update and select ‘Pre-release’ for ‘Update channel’ and then select ‘Check for updates’
@lizaoreo, When I select the “restricted” user I get the repeated “Search” menu. If I then press the left arrow I get a repeated “Switch User” menu. No other menu items.
If I am on my main user, then I do get the proper menus for preferences etc.
@NedtheNerd, I am on 1.0.2. I just installed 1.0.3 and get the same issue.
I can still use plex fine from the Android app, and cast to Chromecast, and from my main user on the Rasplex.
However when point the web browser at http://[plex LAN ip]:32400/web/index.html, I am prompted to select user. If I select my main user I am prompted to enter a PIN, and then I get to the main Plex screen.
My server name has a red triangle next to it and says “unavailable”
