Switch User / Pin not working / Faulty

Hi Forum

I have a Pi2 running the latest rasplex and connected to a SONY Bravia TV via HDMI and is controlled by the CIC-Remote functions of the TV

We have 5 logins setup to Plex all with our their own login and pins

I have had this issue for a few versions and even on previous Pi hardware

The issue I am seeing is that when I use the switch user option i am presented with the user list to login as expected but if you press the return key on the remote I get taken back to the interface and then can on carry watching or listening as the previous user

I am sure this is not how it should be or the intended use

The only way to fix this is to do a reset and then you have to select a user and pic to log in

Has anyone else seen this?

Yes, this is a known issue and will be fixed in the next release - 1…0.2

I have however done the update that was waiting for me and the problem still continues

Actually looking at your use case again, this is normal behaviour.

As I understand you, if you want to switch user you go left, select switch user and then don’t select a user but exit the user selection screen then you continue as the original user, which is what you expect.

If you really want to that user to be gone and leave it in a state with no user logged in then you should sign out as that user, the next time someone wants to watch something they will have to select a new user.

Thanks for the response, Is it possibly to do a “Log Off” option then. As we have 5 accounts on my plex and we limit when and what my kids can watch we have to do a restart every time we finish watching so that they cant just open it up and carry on watching the Simpsons etc on rerun

Second: A few configuration changes here.

A. Use an account that is not the Plex Server administrator. That account can login to any account without a pin. So if you switch user from the admin, you can go right into another users account. You don’t want your kids to pick up and log back into an elevated rights account. All elevated accounts in the home should have Pin numbers.

B. Turn on the screensaver. Set an appropriate amount of time to the timeout value so your kids can’t come grab your remote.

C. Make sure automatically sign in is disabled.

D. Make sure you choose ‘switch user’ when you’re done watching Plex.
