Watching off line, not syncing

Just installed the new build, just watched a episode offline, got home to sync and not only was the show not removed from my iPad, but it was remarked unwatched. Just to test I also placed iPad in airplane mode, marked the show watched, turned off airplane mode and synced again. It was again marked unwatched.

Still not syncing status after being offline.

Do you also have server logs for that time period?

Media server logs

I’ve finally managed to reproduce this bug and think I may have some reproduction steps for the developers to have a look at:

  1. find a new tv series with no episodes watched
  2. Initiate sync on the iPad (for me the settings are 3 episodes, unwatched only, low quality but not sure if this matters)
  3. go offline (disable wireless / leave home / etc.)
  4. watch episode on iPad
  5. go online (enable wireless / etc.)
  6. initiate sync and allow to finish (does not appear to matter which screen you are looking at i.e. which “server” connected to, local iPad or server sync’d from
  7. look at on-deck. The watched show will not appear.

Device and server logs attached. The final sync happened in the last 24 hours (got home about 9pm so after that).

Interestingly after posting that I restarted my PMS server (stopped it to get the logs cleanly) and after the restart my watched show is now showing on my On Deck. Including the second episode which I partially watched.
I can only assume that an additional sync happened which updated the played status and positions. The initial sync would have had episodes to convert and download so maybe that was related?

it is very strange, watching a partial show will sync and I can resume on my ATV when getting home. But completed shows do not and I usually have to go to plex web to mark watched.

I get this same problem on build 4.6. If I watch synced items offline on my iPad, when I connect to my network again once I’m home the watched statuses don’t update. If I open the sync options and tap on synchronise to manually sync then the watched status does get updated. I’ve noticed that when I reconnect to my wifi at home and open the plex app it doesn’t trigger synchronisation automatically. It always used to but doesn’t any longer. I think this is what’s stopping the watched statuses being updated on the server.

With the latest beta it will now sync if on my iPad I have the server set for the remote server and watch synced content and am online. But when offline or the iPad set to the iPad server nothing syncs.

latest beta, still not working, and does not even seem to have even looked at as there is nothing in the release notes relating to this.

another beta, no fix.

4.6 release, same thing

Agreed, I have the same issue. Both on iOS Beta and existing client, on two different iPads and iPhone.

Just pasting here what I responded to your other post here

The logs provided were for versions Plex for iOS Public Release 4.3 and Plex Media Server v1.2.0.2716

There have been a number of changes in handling of watched status for sync since then and one fix had to be reverted after release. The development team are working on a new fix which it is hoped to make its way to the beta releases very soon.

@sa2000 Do you see any feedback from anyone from Plex in this thread? I figured this beta forum out be a place to talk about bugs and give/get feedback from developers, but that is not the case. I stopped uploading logs because of that.

I can post logs everyday if you want, but if no one from Plex is going to comment or work with users to try and fix problems, what is the point?

Talking about issues rather than providing logs does not help have problems investigated.
The only logs provided here were from an old public 4.3 release

You do not have to provide logs every day but providing corresponding logs from both sides (server and client app) with appropriate descriptions and for every new release tried would help. As I mentioned there were changes in this area after the 4.3

@sa2000 HELLO! What do you not see?? There were logs posted from app and the server by TWO USERS in this thread and no one from Plex replied at the time they were posted, September. NO FEEDBACK WHAT SO EVER. That is my point.

I am done

Build #9154 still does not sync items watched offline, figures…

Thanks for the server and iOS plex logs. Could you tell what items this relates to - time and one of the items as an example and what is it that is wrong. I have logs covering 2017/01/24 17:34 to 2017/01/25 21:31 on iOS
