Anyone have access or know when they’re gonna roll out the Beta?
The beta is still in the first stage. As the beta continues, more will join the beta until all the issues are sorted out to everyone’s satisfaction.
This beta is unlike any other beta in that it’s a whole new way of using Plex and with all the (forgive the term please) ‘birthing pains’ of something entirely new.
I’m sure management has plans but we Ninjas don’t know the details as to what milestones need to be accomplished before it does go public. Sorry, wish there was more I/we could tell you but we don’t even know.
Appreciate the status update. But was looking to see on the chance anyone on the forum was so lucky to get the beta but thank you.
i am still waiting

Those who were selected received a private invitation. If they wish to speak up, of course, it’s their decision.
I personally can attest to that my involvement is in trying to break it. This is the one time I hope I fail in my tasks
I should add; In the future, I will be more cautious about when I take vacation and not allow myself to be so far away from the internet. I came back to find the Beta already going.
I am psyched up about it. Registered for the beta the day it went live. Haven’t received an invite yet though. I have been using amazon cloud drive unlimited for a while now as a backup/hard drive mirror service so my whole 8tb library is in the cloud already. Can’t wait to see how this thing works especially because I have actually had my server go down while I was on vacation and couldn’t do anything about it other than have a friend go to my house and restart it… Anyway. Thanks for everything you guys are doing at PLEX. SO GLAD I bought a lifetime pass last year. So worth it.
Registered last week but I am also patiently waiting for an invite. In the meantime I have purchased a year worth of Amazon Cloud. I am really wondering how this will work as I can not yet upload anything to the cloud that is over 1GB… hence, no TV shows and absolutely no movies. I am sure Plex Cloud will do some magic! Looking forward to this one people.

I have no trouble uploading 1GB+ files. Are you using the client?

That is only a limitation of the Web version of Amazon Drive. Using their Drive app has no limits.

Ah, that must be the problem. Couldn’t get the app to work as I only have a remote win2003 server at my disposal at home while I am abroad. Thanks!
Rclone is another nice program that can upload your data to Amazon. You can even copy/sync from cloud to cloud. Like Google Drive to Amazon Cloud, or Local Drive to Amazon Cloud. Need to be familiar with command line though.
odrive is amazing.
I too can not wait! Hope it comes soon.

not to mention file hash checks
hi i already mount google drive in a mac server without miroring any files…
it’s very good for storage solution for several movies in parallele but need to have the server on.
i would try your amazon solution
If any are interested by my solution i could write a paper on it. Maybe after the test.
thanks
I’ve been using for several days and seems to be just fine - this a.m. my cloud server is not responding, so I’m not sure if this is because of a general outage, or if its just me. For you AWS types, I suspect plex is running these servers as on-demand spot instances that are started when a request to connect is made. That would explain what appears to be periodic outages. Instant access could likely be accomplished by continually streaming.
Now we could really use a good sync tool to keep internal and cloud servers in sync.

- I removed your accidental double-reply
- ACD_CLI is their recommended tool but many of us find
rsync
to be the better tool to use because of it’s flexibility and applicability to other services
Plex Cloud is indeed an on-demand startup. It’s very much like a VPS in that it’s there but also takes just a little bit longer to ‘wake up’ than the traditional VPS. Specifically, you’ll notice it does an automatic “Update” of your libraries when it starts up. This is deliberate to make certain it is in sync with you ACD.
As with any beta, there have been a few updates to the PMS server image used and a few ‘oooops’ moments too while things which weren’t expected had to be handled.
