Plex Cloud Beta Invite Envy

When will plex cloud beta roll out to more people. Signed up on day 1, still no invite. Other than movie trailers and the odd time for mobile syncing, I don’t see the much benefit, other than cloud sync, to keep my plex pass. Any ideas when more or most plex pass members will see there invites? Verified in the plex web interface, server drop down, no cloud server listed yet.

I just realized I forgot about this thing totally until today lol

Yup I am waiting too… even signed up for the Unlimited Cloud Storage already.

Will save me from having to copy files from work and bring them home. Now both NVIDA Shields will have the same items on them. Can’t wait!

waiting about a month

Guys there are several other threads on this explaining that things so far are far from perfect. I don’t see anyway that Plex will invite others into the beta until they have it a little more functional.

I am going to go out on a limb and say people with single or double digit post totals are not likely to be included in the beta.

Wow, no way that can backfire in the forums!

I feel somewhat duped by PLEX. Advertising their cloud services on the front page with a little blurb about requesting an invite. I dont feel compelled to keep my plex pass for other “features”. I’m glad my Amazon Drive 3 month trial hasn’t ended. I really question PLEX’s membership model… promise great features that require an invite that never comes :frowning:

They only promised it was released to a small beta group and that it was coming soon. They did not say to go out and grab a trial Amazon cloud account and spend days uploading a 20TB library in hopes of getting accepted into the beta program. They also did not say get a plexpass and you will get invited. It is unfortunate some people have read that into it, but it is simply not true. I suspect most people should not even be considering this yet. New features are often somewhat buggy and I would steer very clear of this until it is thoroughly tested. But that is just me. I remember what it was like to be wide-eyed and whatnot…but those years are past :). Good luck with it, either way!

Just to clear the air here, invites are not going out based on forum post count! We’re still in the early stages of the beta and will be inviting more folks to join as soon as we can.

Spot on.
I’m on the 90 day trial. Regardless of if the invite comes before the 90 days are up I will renew with Amazon. I have uploaded about 8TB of my 50TB of media. As far as I’m concerned that’s just a pre-empt for when the invite comes. The 8Tb uploaded so far is as far as I’m concerned simply an extra layer of redundancy for my media. If the invite comes next week/month/year isn’t something I’m gonna cry over.

I’m pretty envious, quite excited to start automating scripts and such for things, should be a lot of fun. Just finished uploading ~2tb test media and I grabbed Plex Pass again on day 1 of the announcement and signed up for the invite. We’ll all have it soon, hopefully!

I’m a little loathe to start setting up scripts to automatically upload etc. until I can test out Plex Cloud properly though. Drive space is my enemy at the moment (two failures in the last month…) and I’ll need a bunch of space to start setting up downloads/uploads properly.

Ah well, hope I get the invite soon to start playing with it, then I can finally start writing cool tutorials again while I mess with it.

I would like to ask you to confirm your invitation.

another one waiting (also signed up the first day).

I would think this would be obvious. Probably has to do with what the person will be actually doing with the account so that the beta testers have a well rounded sample for everything. If you’ve got 1000 people already doing it with iPhones, you have to get another 1000 to do it on Android, and then more to do it on Laptops of Windows, Linux, and Mac, etc…

That being said, I would really like to offer up my Mac for testing. :stuck_out_tongue: (not that I think that will help).

I already mount my amazon cloud drive as a network drive and do basically this with my plex server. Would love to test out the official solution…

How do you do this?

Inquiring minds would like to know.

There are a few options that will allow you to mount your Amazon Drive

including acd_cli, rclone and I think netdrive (have not tried netdrive)

Personally I use acd_cli

what storage does it use? s3? 50TB at S3 standard pricing would be 1445$ a month…hopefully that’s not what you’re using on AWS  Thanks as I’m genuinely curious what backing storage the plex cloud service is using.
