Android choose sync storage location

I would really appreciate it if i could choose to store my music library on the external storage so I can use it with other apps. Maybe it would be nice if you could choose where to save to for each library.

There was an update of the Plex App the last days, and now it seems like as there is an option to choose the location where the synced files are stored. Haven´t tried it yet but i´m hoping it works!

The option allow you to define the support (internal or SD) but doesn’t make it accessible for other apps.

In fact the matter is not to use an external nor internal storage. The real request is to make that sync storage accessible for other players.

+1 for the feature. I really want to use Plex sync for my music instead of manually copying folders from the server. Please make this happen!

+1 quite a while ago this was possible. Bring that feature back. Please…!
I need to play my music with power Amp, because the plex player does not support continuous play.

I don’t think the wording in the original post is very clear. The problem is not that the user needs to pick the storage location, the problem is that the synced files need to be a) located somewhere that you can access without root, and b) named and organized such that you can find and play the file you want.

I believe (a) is technically sort-of true today, if you choose “external” sync, because files show up under /sdcard/Android/data/com.plexapp.android/app_sync/media_parts or something along those lines, but they’re organized by some kind of internal ID number and chunked at 1.8GB so you can’t play large files in an external player.

I don’t care if the path (relative to internal/external) storage is hard-coded, I just want the synced files to be placed in folders according to library (and album-artist/album, in the case of music) and named either according to the Plex title of the item, or the original filename.

I’d love this option as well - external access to the media would be brilliant. Plex server could sync content, nice and clean.
Once sync is complete, something like Play Music could then be given voice commands to start/stop playback.
That or let Plex have Ok Google support for synced content.

I would like to have the option of choosing where the files are saved as well.

I would like the files to be used by other programs as well… Not stored as a reference number, and have file type listed as well for movies and as one file. I could just transfer them over, but what I thought I had paid for was the transcoding feature.

I too would vote for this feature!!

Yes, please - this is absolutely necessary !

Please listen to us. thanks. Lifetime Plex pass user.

It would be extremely useful if the plex android app allowed you to choose a specific location in local storage

That should be one of the features included, istnt it kinda like netflix but with our own files. I think having a media server like plex should give crontrol. I see no need for limiting that ability.

Syncing the files to .../Android/media/com.plexapp.android/... (instead of .../Android/data/com.plexapp.android/...) would at least make the files visible to other players. If they could be stored in a meaningful structure instead of the internal ids that would be the icing on the cake.

+1 for the vote.

+1 for this

+1. basicly this feature was the only reason i bought a plex pass lifetime subscription, and now i realized it’s useless. so right now i am a very unhappy plex pass user, beceause it offers me zero benefits over the free version.

I’m in exactly the same situation!
Really annoying
