readynas 312 with firmware 6.8 with plexmedia server 1.8.4.4249-3497d6779
From plex.tv website on my home pc on the same network it just says looking for servers.
i get you are not authorized if i manually enter ip address in plex app on samsung smart tv and in the plex app on my iphone it shows the name of my plex server with unauthorized below the name.
i recently moved isp to verizon with fios router g1100 and port forwarded 32400 for the statis ip address of the netgear readynas.
on my pc when i view network there’s a plex media server icon
is there someone i can speak to directly via phone or email? just no response after months and this issue is frustrating!
Hi Igsc, did this get fixed for you? after it working fine for months for me, iv got the same issue today, no VPN etc on my Synology.
hey this worked for me, i had to follow Q7a and delete the preference file.
""Open Plex in your browser by typing in http://Your-NAS-IP-Address:32400 and then go to settings->devices and delete everything except for the current browser session. Now stop Plex from running on the NAS.
Next, go to https://plex.tv and sign in if not already. Click on the ‘launch’ button and repeat the above, delete everything except for the current browser session. Then sign out of plex.tv.
Now go back and restart Plex on the NAS. Open Plex in your browser by typing in http://Your-NAS-IP-Address:32400 and then sign in, both in settings->server->general and by clicking on the ‘head’ icon (top right of screen).
Make sure you have followed the instructions above carefully, if you are still unable to access the server, then follow these steps but only if the above has failed, DO NOT try doing both at the same time:
Stop Plex from running, then open File Station and navigate to: Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server and delete plexmediaserver.pid (if it exists) and Preferences.xml.
If you do not see the Plex folder in File Station, then see Q7a on the Synology FAQ’s page, link in my signature.
Restart Plex, then type http://Your-NAS-IP-Address:32400 into your browser or click on the link in Package Center->Installed->Plex or from the DSM start menu->Plex icon and make sure you log in, both in settings->server->general and by clicking on the ‘head’ icon (top right of screen).
Hopefully, you will be able to access your server again.

Unfortunately this didn’t fix it and as I have a Netgear readynas and not a Synology the final step isn’t relevant.
Some more info:
The Ready NAS 312 starts up fine.
When I launch the plex app from the NAS the plex software launches in the web browser but it can’t find the plex server on the nas , the app just keeps spinnng trying to find a local plex server. I’ve deleted the plex media server, restarted the NAS and reinstalled but no difference.
Ready NAS 312 with Firmware 6.9.1
Plex media server 1.10.1.4561-9de2951fc
The only other item that’s strange (might be helpful) is that when I use the plex app on my iPhone I can see the plex media server on the NAS showing up but it says unauthorized next to the name of the plex server that’s on the nas 312. That doesn’t show up in the browser.
I had upgraded from my Ready NAS to version 6.9.3 and my plex server wont be found. I had tried to uninstall and reinstall , restart NAS to no luck. My NAS and all other devices was in 1 subnet , yet it wasnt able to find the plex server .
I reset my home router to very default subnet , that seems to fix the issue. When my NAS got new ip , I turned on the Plex server services and clicked launch this time , I was able to start with normal plex server configuration meaning the Plex server was found.
