Plex Agent not downloading IMDb/ RT ratings with metadata

So for the past two days, when I’ve added new films to my Plex it’s downloading the metadata fine but no IMDb rating or Rotten Tomatoes? Is this somehow broken at the moment? At first I thought it might be down to the film itself being quite unknown but then I’ve added classics and new big movies and still no luck. Any help would be great!

I’d like to second that. I recently noticed that the IMDb ratings are no longer getting pulled in and it’s only showing the percentage now from The Movie Database. I tried refreshing the metadata on a movie that had the IMDb rating, and it switched it to the percentage. So, something seems to have changed that broke pulling in the metadata.

I missed before that this was in the Mac section. I am running on Windows and have the issue, so it definitely seems like something in a more recent beta release for Server.

This appears to be fixed on Windows at least with the most recent beta release.

I also suddenly have the same issue with the Plex Agent not downloading/showing RT or IMDB ratings with the metadata. I believe it just started occurring within the last 2 beta releases for Plex mac os server. I’m on the latest beta Version 1.9.7.4441 and seeing this issue.

Same with me, I tried this morning going back before the two beta releases and the metadata works perfectly fine. So something in the beta releases has broken that link for the ratings.

Not working for me either with the latest 1.9.7.4441 release and I’m on Windows (10).

I am also on 1.9.7.4441 on Windows 10, and it seems that I spoke too soon. Only some movies have corrected themselves by refreshing the data. Others are still not pulling in the IMDB ratings.

I’m still on the same version, and refreshing metadata on the affected movies pulled in IMDB ratings now. Based on that, the issue seems to be fixed.

Same issue here, I also noticed the yellow IMDb Icon is mising on all new movies.
Can someone please tell me which version of PMS still pulls IMDb ratings (and shows the yellow IMDb Icon) through Plex Movie agent?

I’m not having the issue anymore on 1.9.7.4441 on Windows 10, and I just tested with a newly added file. If you’re on Mac, maybe it’s something that is only affecting macOS right now? I’m also not running the Fall Creators Update. I’m still on the Creators Update, which is v1703 (Build 15063.674). There could be an issue with the latest macOS update if that was installed recently.

Hi, There

The same issue with me. Version 1.9.7.4441 on FreeNas. There is no yellow IMDB sign. I was very stupid to reload all metadata and now all are gone. There is only %

I’m actually not running on Mac but Win10 so this is probably not the right forum - but I don’t this is a client issue but Plex Server version issue.

It may sound ridiculous but I think Plex is all about nice looks.
I have struggled to get Plex to pull ratings from IMDb, and I recently noticed the improved Plex Media Agent was able to display a nice yellow IMDb icon or red and green Rotten Tomato icons with version 1.7.xx and 1.8.4.4249.

That is why I get so frustrated when I can’t get those nice yellow IMDb icons on my new setup:

I have tried installing several different PMS versions back and forth without succes. No matter what I do, I can no longer pull IMDb ratings via Plex Movie Agent.

I could change to the Open Movie Database Agent instead (which pulls IMDb ratings just fine), but then I get the % and I would really like to go back to the Plex Movie Agent with the nice yellow IMDb icons.

If anyone out there has a setup with the yellow IMDb icons, please tell me the PMS version and how you setup your Agent settings.

Library settings, advanced select IMBd for ratings with Plex movie. Your agent for Plex movie should be at the Top. PMS/agents

Thanks SE56.
My Plex Movie Agent was right on top but just below Local Media Assets - but perhaps I made following change that could be critical:
I modified the Plex Movie Agent setting from IMDb to Rotten Tomatoes and I refreshed metaddata - and to my surprise I managed to get a Tomato icon !
So I went back to the Agent setting and changed back to IMDb and I finally got the yellow IMDb icon!
I repeated the process on my latest movies but sometimes I had to click on “Refresh metadata” 2, 3 or 4x to finally get the IMDb icon.
But now everything looks great again:

Thanks!

Hi,

Late reply, but still… This may be due to https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/265002/bug-in-plex-movie-agent-overwrites-metadata-with-tmdb-data-given-urlopen-read-timeouts.

This behavior still seems to be present in the default installation: If the Plex Movie agent succeeds in reading data from TMDB but then fails to read additional information from IMDB, then it ignores the IMDB failures and still saves the part of the metadata that it did manage to read. If you already had IMDB scores, they will now be overwritten with TMDB scores.

If this is what happened to you, it doesn’t have anything to do with the Plex version you use. It’s just a question of whether you are getting timeouts from meta.plex.tv (where Plex gets its IMDB info) or not. That’s also the reason why refreshing a single movie multiple times may work.

still the same freaking problem… why is no dev fixing this ?!

Plex imdb ratings are broken, has been for years:

https://forums.plex.tv/t/imdb-ratings-doesnt-update-even-when-i-refresh-meta-data/433642/15

This goes for RT ratings too. And TMDB movie agent instead of Plex movie agent, does not fix it either.

Might as well save your time debugging, as this is a well documented issue on Plex’ side.
