unable to access live tv

I have tried to set up a home user (myself) to watch live TV but the option for it under restrictions does not show up.

I’m running;
Web Version 3.44.1
Server Version 1.12.1.4885

I can access it if I use the admin user account… but I don’t want to be always logged in as admin.

It says that this can be done and the instructions have been followed, I’ve tried all the tricks etc…

I would like someone from Plex to contact me so this can get resolved.

what do you mean, the option does not show up?
when you setup a managed user or create a new one in Settings > Users… does the option to enable live tv for that user show up?

apologies… I only had access to a German language UI (and was too lazy to switch it).

That’s correct… The option below Plugins does not show up…

are you sure this is a Managed User?
from what I can find, sharing live tv is only available for Managed Users within a Plex Home – not for users with their own Plex account whom you invite as Friends to your server.

this is what I get, I’ts the user I want to use myself

Things I’ve tried or have been asked to try,
Shutdown all PMS servers, remove the web browser, delete the browsers data, cache etc…
Start one server (windows in the last case) install chrome as the browser… connect at ipaddress:32400/web…
login, go to user setting… same as above. yet as user ‘N’ admin I can access the live TV from all devices that have the feature…

Does anyone at Plex have a solution, suggestion?

Wow, that’s a lot of Plex servers you have access to there! My best guess is that maybe one or more of your servers there doesn’t have DVR access configured for it, so it’s not displaying the option? I’m not sure what process they use to determine if/when to show the LiveTV option when you have multiple servers, but it’s possible it’s broken. Maybe it’s only looking at the first one in the list?

They all have it configured… That was one of the things I tried… shut them all down, removed them from the login at plex… removed the browser and data etc… and basically started over, and that’s both for windows 7 and Ubuntu 16.04 … also if I add a new user it doesn’t show.

wish I knew what the conditions were required, or if there was a settings file I could edit, something to check.
I find it hard to believe I’m the only one with this problem…

what does one have to do to get someone from Plex to assist a user?

You didn’t answer if this is about a separate account (e.g. with a different e-mail address) or a „managed user“ (login based on the same e-mail address with a different PIN).

It’s a managed user (me) login is my e-mail address with different PIN

been tryig to get this to work since it was announced…

this is so weird. The only conditions that are required is

  1. you have a PP
  2. You have a server over 1.11 with live TV set up on it
  3. the account you are trying to share with is in your Plex Home ( managed or regular account)

I wonder if it is some browser issue.
do you have a smart phone you can access the web app when on cellular ( turn off wifi ) so we can see if it is a network issue by trying on a different network (celluar)

may need to look at chrome console logs when you open up restrictions window
