Hello Community,
I am struggling with Live TV. Searched the Plex Website, Searched Google, tried 100 things but can’t fix my problem. That’s why I am reaching out to you.
I have my Plex Server up and running on my Synology NAS.
I am logged in with my Plex Account with Lifetime Plex Pass.
When logged in with my Plex Account, Live TV is working great. No problem here.
I then created a Plex Home User for my wife.
Under the Plex Home Users - Restrictions Tab, I allowed Live TV only
But when I login with my wife’s Homer User, I don’t get Live TV showing up under PLEX. I only get Movies & Shows.
The “Live TV” media source may need to be added to the side bar in the Plex app first.
Is “Live TV” visible when you switch the sidebar to “MORE” (it is usually at the bottom, among the other sources from plex.tv)
Another radical approach would be this:
Create 2 new libraries. One of type “TV Shows”, one of type “Movies”.
Point them each to a new, dedicated folder, which you’ll have to create on your NAS.
Grant your Home user access to these new libraries.
Now switch the Live TV restriction for each user from “Live TV” to “Live TV & DVR”.
Now “Switch User” again on a Plex client.
See if Live TV is now appearing.
Keep in mind that the program guide of your TV tuner may need to be activated first. You do that on the same page where the program guide of the streaming TV from plex.tv is shown.
