I also had the problem, but reinstalled as per WilhelmStrokers comment - and then upgraded to 1.18.4.2164 - and everything seems okay.
Thanks to PlexStaff for responding swiftly to the problem and releasing new version quickly.

Agreed: 1.18.4.2164 upgraded without issue from the buggy 1.18.4.2153 version.

I had the same issue and simply did a manual install over the top of it. That fixed it for me too.

Yep. Me too.

I noticed that there was conspicuously no “what’s new” button on that one though

Keep in mind that version 1.18.4.2164 is at the moment a beta release, so not everyone will see it.
I hope the update goes public soon!

Stuff like this is the kind of stuff that really needs to be fixed before PLEX can even attempt to move beyond the hacker community.

It was a beta release – it can be a bumpy road sometimes, installing beta software.

the last three release versions of PLEX have cratered my server due to the large number of music files I have. I don’t use beta software. But to release something as beta that does the above is pretty amazing.

This is what I did to get the server back. I ran the pms.exe from the Package Cache, I did have to use the 1.18.4.2153 update when I ran the repair as it wouldn’t take the 1.18.4.2164 update I had downloaded.
I did then update to 1.18.4.2164 with no trouble.

We have identified the root cause of this. Upgrading to 1.18.3.2164 should “just work” and we will have a fix in place soon to avoid this happening in the future.

Tried to watch a movie today. And not sure what update caused this but now my files that have AC3 5.1 audio tracks aren’t playing right. The Dialog audio is all jacked up. Had this problem with EAC3 before. The solution to that was to enable Convert when playing the file. Doesn’t seem to work this time. Oddly my files with EAC3 play just fine still but AC3 5.1 doesn’t now. Did try downgrading Plex TV on my FireTV Stick like in this thread https://forums.plex.tv/t/how-to-downgrade-to-older-version-of-plex-on-firetv/205370 It worked. But then playing files with EAC3 in that older version causes it to stutter.

well it didnt
i just upgraded last night on server 2016. broke Plex
tried to reload plex and it doesn’t allow me to add libraries to it. Ive spent the last few hours trying to get this to work. Suggestions?
