1.6.2 crashing to desktop

Right in the middle of viewing it will crash to desktop. (Sometimes, multiple times per movie/show) Occasionally it won’t even start correctly and I’ll have to restart it. I cannot recreate it reliably, but it does happen pretty frequently. The last file that it did it on was a copy of Apocalypto H.264 AC3. I’m playing it on a NUC with the following specs: Board = Intel D53427RKE with an Intel Core i5-3427U @1.80GHZ, (Ivy Bridge) Two 8 Gig sticks of ram (One Corsair and one Micron, both PC3-12800), Intel Graphics HD4000 and Win10 Pro. I’m running the HDMI out to a Ben-Q W1500 projector and the Display Port out to a Yamaha RX-V1800. And I’m streaming from a Plex Media Server in another room all hardwired at full gigabit speeds.
Any ideas please?

In this case, logfiles displaying the reason for the crash would help.

Hi

i had a crash to desktop issue previously with my intel nucs,

the solution was to turn off ‘allow hardware acceleration - DXVA2’ in OpenPHT settings

give that a try?

Ok, I’ve got new log files starting every time I run it and I have disabled hardware acceleration. I’ll let you know if that fixes it, and if it doesn’t, post the log file. Thanx for the replies!

I’ve got similar issue. Where in OpenPHT can I find “turn off ‘allow hardware acceleration - DXVA2’ in OpenPHT settings”?. I do not see this in settings!

This is where that setting is at. It has decreased the number of crashes for me, but I’m still getting them. I just need to get a log file uploaded now.

Here’s a log file for a crash last night. I’ve been deleting every log file right before I start a new session, so that the log file is only for the session that crashed.

Take a look and let me know what you think please!

same issue here although mostly happens when OpenPHT not in use overnight and very infrequently and hasn’t happened at all for several weeks since I removed my connections to two of my friends remote Plex servers.

I see lots of CCurlFile WARNINGs in your attached log file referring to several different IP addresses. What are those IP addresses ? Are they remote connections to other (not your primary) Plex servers ? If so that’s the same issue I was having and once removed the connection haven’t seen the problem.

So, I’m assuming that they’re friends Plex servers. (Yes, remote connections.) How/where do I go to tell OpenPHT to ignore my friends servers? I was unable to find any settings for it.

You have to do it on PMS via PlexWeb. Go to Settings/Users…

Is the problem with my friends connecting to me, or me connecting to their servers? Assuming it’s me connecting to their servers, instead of leaving their server, is there a way to tell it to ignore their servers?

As the errors are in the OpenPHT log I think its you connecting to them. You can disconnect from them via PlexWeb/Settings/Users. Try and see if the crash goes away. If it does can look to re-add but at least we know where the problem is.

Interesting. It must just be the connection itself then as I don’t ever stream from them. All right, thank you.

Yeah same again here, wasn’t really streaming from their servers either. Interestingly though, one of my friends servers was relocated and got a new IP (internal and external) so maybe PMS/OpenPHT does not detect/update that - was about to re-add friends server with new IP and see if problem returns. Was also a slow and sometimes unreliable WAN connection (on friends side) so that could have caused the issue also. We’ll see when I add back in. Glad I could help.
