[Crash, NUC5I5] Resuming a HEVC video from xx:xx min with DXVA2 enabled crashes to Desktop

Hi,

I just experienced a reproducible error where OpenPHT (1.7.1) crashes to desktop whenever I try to resume playing a TV series episode from xx minutes (watched before).
I added two debug logs, one with DXVA2 still enabled and the crash happening, and another one with DXVA2 disabled where it ran fine.

I hope this helps in fixing the issue? The no DXVA2 workaround works fine for now, so it’s not urgent.

It’s running on a NUC5I5, Win7 x64 with a local PMS.

Thanks!

is it on x265/HEVC content only where this happens?

Hmm, actually yes, it is.

Haven’t explicitly checked other content but never noticed any issues with H264 content before.

yea i had the same problem on my NUCs with it (1 generation before yours), the only solution was to disable DXVA2

i think we wont be getting a fix for this until OpenPHT is rebased on a newer version of KODI in a future version unfortunately.

althrough i havent noticed this problem on my new Win10 HTPC which is kaby lake yet which is interesting, i should test it further maybe i havent played enough HEVC content to trigger it

Hmm, interesting. Okay. Well luckily for now it all works without DXVA2.
Maybe it needs updated drivers?

i spent quite a bit of time last year trying different intel drivers etc but didnt find a solution

i think the flaw is with the kodi isengard backend which openpht/win is currently using

its been a while since i last tried tho.

here was the original issue i opened about it
