1.9.6 - New Issue: Transcoder Error on One Channel

@sa2000
Did you get a chance to look into it? It’s definitely the live session. It seems stopping a live session does not release the tuner causing recording to fail.

Yes I did and have been discussing it with the devs.
It is being submitted to the development team

So the aborted live tv session seemed to affect the scheduled recording that was starting 15 minutes or so later

Is this consistent ? or only with the 26.1 channel?

And does the issue arise on both DVRs ?
The logs show HDTC-2US and HDHR4-2US

If you have more logs of similar failures I will add them to the evidence being submitted

It seems to be only 26.1 but I can try the other channels with the same steps. The same problem occurs with both DVR. I don’t know how Plex selects the DVR but I tested by removing one DVR in the settings.

The same problem occurs with other channels.

Thanks

Does Live TV actually work for you ? or it fails and then the failure carries into the following recording?

Live tv works until tuner runs out. If I force stop on playback in Status before I start a recording, it works at least the few times that I tried.

So on live tv if you force stop on playback in Status before starting a recording, the recording works ok
So which action on live tv stops the next recording working?

OK, I think I figured out the pattern here. If you start watching a channel live and stop it, it will not record that channel or watch that channel live again until you watch another channel or restart the PMS. Logs attached.

I found the same that once live tv started and stopped, it will not record. But watching another channel does not fix anything. Both recordings and live will go bad after a few channel switches. I haven’t tested enough to say for sure but it seems the browser client hangs on the tuner but my Android clients release them instantaneously.

I tuned with Android client four times and recordings still worked. When I stop live play on Android, the status is updated immediately that playback stopped.

There were several fixes for loss of video. I would suggest refreshing the diagnostics and this time also include logs covering period of the recordings and playback using version 1.9.7.4460 - with problem reproduced after restarting the server. Please add your diagnostics to your original forum topic if you believe it is stil the same issue. I don;t think there has been any logs and the information on that thread goes back to September.

A fix for errors in tuning reported in this forum thread has now been released in Plex Media Server beta 1.14.0.5465-425e4ac90
