For some reason, Plex always failed to record TNT’s Animal Kingdom, even when shown as ‘reruns’, season 2 is failing also and now the same is happening with the new show 'Will", the channel is unprotected.
If you haven’t already, maybe try re-scanning your channels? TNT is protected in my area. Maybe they protected the channel since your original scan.

A channel ‘rescan’ this AM still found TNT ‘unprotected’ but shows fail to record and disappear from ‘scheduled recordings’ matrix after time slot, no errors mentioned.

Interestingly, other shows, ‘Good Behavior’ are being recorded on the same unprotected TNT channel but in addition to ‘Animal Kingdom’ not recording, the new show ‘Will’ is not being recorded either.
I know this is a month old but I was just trying to record The last ship on TNT last night and it was failing as well. I tried tuning the channel with plex and would say something to the effect of transcoder crashed. I tried adjacent channels with no issue and also used HDhomerun and Live Channels (on Windows and android TV respectively) to tune to TNT with no problem. I will try rescanning my HDHomerun prime (though I did just update the firmware, and the channel didn’t show the lock on my.hdhomerun.com) as well as my plex server tonight. I tried recording a Supernatural rerun this morning and it failed immediately, so it’s something with the channel for me it seems
Ok so I re-scanned the channels, TNT (ch 624) is not protected and I tried to start recording Supernatural at 11:18:27.781 8/21 and it failed saying transcoder error again. I have attached my logs if anyone at plex can take a look. I browsed the plex media server.log (not sure where else to look) and the errors near that attempt are shown below. I won’t copy too much because of space but maybe someone can make sense of it? I’m running the latest (v1.8.1.4139) on Win10x64.

@John-Y128 @youareme7 I have encountered transcoder errors like this as well on VICEHD channel. When trying to record on VICE (standard def), however, there is no issue. I noticed though that VICE records in mkv format instead of mpeg2. This may be the case with TNT as well, but I currently have no way of testing this. I’m wondering if, for some reason, Plex can’t handle recording mkv files in HD. Maybe it has to do with the hardware we’re running (I’m running on a quad core Synology RS815+). I’m not sure. I haven’t had too much time to test my theory, but I think it might have something to do with the mkv container. Maybe try recording TNT in SD and see if that works. If so, see what container it’s in, TS (mpeg2) or mkv.
