1080p Bluray Audio/Video stops working after 5 minutes or less. Recent transcoding change?

Server Version#: 1.30.0.6406 (Ubuntu)
Player Version#: Web ( 4.87.2) but happens on all clients: Chromecast/Roku/Android/iOS

I have several 1080p MKV files that used to work just fine but recently have started acting erratically. Sometimes the audio will just cut out. Sometimes the video and audio stop and the video acts like it’s buffering but never returns. The same video file may do one or the other. It does not seem to matter what I set the video quality to, it always happens. Also, it seems to happen to videos in the same spots, almost as if it can get through the first few chunks and then runs into an issue.

This seems related to transcoding… on several videos the video seems to direct stream but the audio instead seems to transcode to Opus.

For my DVD MKV files, everything works perfectly fine.

I have no idea where to go from here… everything was working and now Blurays are unwatchable.

Can anyone help?

It’s bizarre, every client now gets an 7.1 Opus transcode. I certainly don’t need a 7.1 TrueHD transcode on Android phones.

See this thread: Plex freezing a transcode no matter the client stating out of space

Your logs are filled with the same error message.

Try rolling back to 1.29.2.

Thanks @FordGuy61!

I’m searching now but is there a doc/link to information on how to downgrade a Linux Plex Server? I’m not using Docker or anything and wasn’t sure if it was as simple as just installing the previous versions’ .deb file.

For anyone googling “How to downgrade plex linux server” it’s as simple as shutting the service down, installing the old version and restarting the service: Plex media server downgrade - #3 by jives - Requests - DietPi Community Forum

Verified that the Downgrade fixed the issue! Thanks again @FordGuy61!

@FPG

Before you run off ??

Might you cut a snippet of the front of that file enough for me to attach to a trouble ticket demonstrating the problem (10 MB?)

@ChuckPa - I’m not sure I follow. The “front” of what file?
