The experience preview for Apple TV (TvOS) was last updated on Nov. 21, 2025 - version 2025.30.0.(1388). There are now 12 days remaining. Are there plans to push a new version?
If not, will my Plex TestFlight channel start appearing on my Apple TV again? Or, will there be a new TestFlight channel we need to enroll in?
I keep seeing tvOS fixes referenced in the testflight for iOS releases, but they aren’t released on testflight for tvOS. Makes no sense. We will probably get a released mainstream version of the new app with “no bugs reported” on the latest tvOS beta versions lol

So the Plex Team is just testing it internally without the public TestFlight Beta?
Please provide any sound communication here.
At least communicate that, out of obvious reasons the Plex team temporarily abandoned the public TestFlight beta.
So it is reasonably to assume that the Plex Apple TV app will not be released until 2027 or later.
This is really a fast development cycle and pretty good work from the team, outstanding in its approach and appearance and communication!
Edit Febr. 4th 2026: 15 days remaining of the last TestFlight release. No response whatsoever. I find this utterly disrespectful from the Plex team
Those releases even have release notes for tvOS… so they are expecting us to test them. I really hope they realize they are getting NO feedback and don’t just release the really jank current beta thinking since there’s no feedback, it’s perfect.
This is now getting ridiculous. Still no response or communication from the side of Plex. On what status TestFlight is and so forth (see above my post).
Also no communication on Reddit or elsewhere from the Plex team. I am lost. This is quite a disrespect to customers and beta testers.
A new version was released about an hour ago for the new experience TF on Apple TV (at least for me). Version 2026.2.0. It seems pretty stable and performant, and more-or-less in line with the Roku version now. Albeit with some weird Live TV channel-surfing issues.
The new update has introduced support for Dolby Vision (previously, at least in my case, Dolby Vision content would play in HDR10). Music on the server can now be played as long as it’s in the same collection as a movie or TV show.
However, OTA live TV streams should be fixed so they direct play without being transcoded. It would also be good to implement automatic downmixing from 7.1 audio to 5.1 or stereo for users who don’t have a 7.1 setup. For example, when I play a movie with 7.1 audio, I can only hear background noise without dialogue. To fix this, I have to manually go into the Apple TV settings and force the audio from “Auto” to Dolby Digital 5.1.
Other than that, everything seems fine so far based on my testing.
Yeah DV is now working for me on the Preview. Good to see. It also looks like they have finally fixed the subtitle styling bug where subtitles were displaying in a weird thin font. Subtitles still are not respecting OS Styling options, as they appear to be much smaller than they should be, but at least I can read them now.
DV is working for me as well but there is a strange “tick or “glitch” at times. Doesn’t happen on the same episode on the regular app. It’s not in the same spot each time too.
