[1560] DEBUG - CERT: incomplete TLS handshake from xxx stream truncated

Server Version#: 4.100.1
Player Version#:8.17 ios app

[1560] DEBUG - CERT: incomplete TLS handshake from [::ffff:192.168.1.186]:55694: stream truncated

The ios app plays vdieo content fine, it just wont let me download the content to watch offline. It was working fine and has just stopped. I have tries several ios devices and none work.

Restarted, logged off and back in the server and device apps etc.

I have the right license to watch offline.

Any ideas?

@ChuckPa It looks like from the forums you’ve been able to fix this issue before? Any help appreciated. None of my items will download.

Ive just removed te whole install and started again, same issue

@stevenjt7

Each time you remove the whole installation (which you’ve done 3 times now; on your 4th installation) and don’t clean up plex.tv then you get confusion at plex.tv AND with the players (including Plex/web)

  1. Settings - Authorized Devices - Server (dropdown) - REMOVE the older servers

I was going to clean it up for you until I got confused.

Please clean that up first.

Next: Turn off IPV6 support (Settings - Server - Network).
You have an IPv4 LAN . You don’t need IPv6 prefixing.

Restart all the players (including the Browser) (fully close/terminate and then reopen)

See where that gets you.

If not resolved, include the ZIP file logs so I get the full picture

Thanks for your help.
I have done all as you asked, removed the authorised and added the are minimum to test back. Removed ipv6, restrated the server and all other players.

I can download in the browser, that may have worked before too, I hadnt actually tried that, but the ios app has the same error and will not download.

I can zip up the folder C:\Users\plexuser\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Logs for you, where do I put it so you can access?

Thanks again for the help.

With the iOS app, you’ll have to fully terminate it and restart for any changes to be effective.

As for Downloading, I don’t use it but have seen reports of download problems in general.

I can only suggest you download the iOS client logs, after attempting a download, and attach them here. I can usually spot the obvious issues but am not an app developer.

https://support.plex.tv/articles/201636593-ios-logs/

You’ll want to open a fresh topic for this issue as this topic is for certs.

Thanks, I have attached the ios logs.
The server error says TLS error, which is why i thought it was cert related.

@ChuckPa Any luck on this issue?
Thanks

@stevenjt7

This is driving it nuts.

Given the events aren’t regular at all, I suspect you have something with the network cable

  1. loose socket
  2. broken wire in a connector
  3. bad cable in general.

Thanks, is there anything else in there? I’ve replaced all the cables, tried different network switches, restarted all the routers etc, still gives the same error.

Is the server configured with DHCP or static ? (Static is best)
(misconfigured DHCP servers will spew addresses like this)

Is it using WiFi ? (Wifi is not good for a server)

It’s started working again amazingly. Nothing changed at my end.
