1660 ti for transcode on a AMD NAS?

What video card would you guys suggest that i can buy new for around $200 to help off load to the GPU?

4k HEVC down to 1080p my CPU struggles to do it. There are only two users so it does not have to be a beast. I’m using unraid.

Most seem to go with the nvidia quadros, i guess because of there size and power draw but i would like something new and easy to get.

Thanks for your help and i have a plex life time pass.

Is there a reason you want to transcode the 4K videos? If you have drive space, just create a optimized 1080p version of the 4K movie for use with 1080p TVs and remote streaming.

Minimum is a GTX 1050 (for HEVC 10-bit decoding).

Nvidia consumer GPUs are limited to three simultaneous encodes. Most Quadros do not have that limitation, which is one reason many people use them. Modified drivers are available to get around the three encode limit. See the Elpamsoft site listed below & search for Session Limits.

The Nvidia Encode/Decode matrix lists supported video formats for each GPU:

Elpamsoft has info on transcoding capabilities of various Nvidia GPUs:
