1966 Grinch Movie and Naming Conventions

I’ve added the 1966 Movie and have had zero luck on getting it to be named properly. I’ve checked The Movie Database and the difference between the 1966 and the 2000 movie is an “!”. Even when I add a “(1966)” after the name of the movie, it still shows up as the 2000 version.

Does anyone have a solution for this? I’d appreciate any help. Thanks!

is Fix Incorrect Match not working? ( actually it might not since i think there is a bug with language dropdown which should be fixed soon )

[edit: if your movie file is a mp4 or m4v, it might have internal metadata which point to the other movie. You wanna make sure it contains either the correct ‘title’ tag or none at all]

Try first the Plex Dance with the movie.

If this doesn’t help, make sure to have a subfolder for this movie
Like so:

Movies
How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1966)
How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1966).mkv

then put a text file besides the movie file which contains the IMDB ID for this movie (or maybe the complete URL http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060345/).
then rename the text file to How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1966).nfo (yes, change the filename extension from .txt to .nfo)

Plexdance the subfolder of this movie again.

Plex supports .nfo files? I didn’t think it would out of the box.

Edit: Just noticed this thread (that popped up as new for me) is several years old… Sorry.

It doesn’t support them fully. But the scanner will take the hint if it can recognize the IMDb ID in it.
Nowadays you can also add the IMDb ID in parentheses as last part of the file name.

Works only with movies.

Good to know. Thanks!

Does it matter what Movie Scanning Agent I’m using?

You can’t use a different scanner.
You can use a different agent though. As long as you are using one of the two which come as default, it shouldn’t matter which.

Thanks for the info!
