2 bugs in Plex on Roku but not on Firestick

Server Version#:1.16.6.1592
Player Version#:Version 6.3 build 14
I have a TCL 55R617 tv with built-in Roku and also a 4K Firestick plugged into an HDMI port. Plex app is loaded on both but on the Roku version I have the following two problems…

  1. Streaming live TV at 1080p will switch to buffering 33% screen and freeze up at random times. This does not happen with lower resolution programs.
  2. When watching recorded shows or movies, If I try to use the fast-forward or rewind buttons, the video will always restart from the beginning of the program.
Neither of these problems occur when I use Plex on the 4K Firestick so I assume it is not a server problem but a Plex on Roku client problem.
Has anybody else seen this or have a solution?

I see this same behavior on my TCL Roku TV and my Roku Express stick. The video will be streaming and suddenly display buffering at 33%. If I wait a minute, it’ll eventually load again and start playing but the behavior is annoyingly consistent.

TCL is supposed to be rolling out a new version (9.2) of the Roku firmware over the next few weeks. Fingers crossed, this will help.

My Roku Ultra has been exhibiting the 33% behavior since I bought it a year ago. It has been getting worse over the last couple of weeks, both in terms of number of occurrences as well as length of time stuck at 33%. What I have noticed is that rebooting the Roku will alleviate the symptoms for a short term, but the problem returns. I have a funny suspicion that the latest go-round of Roku software has some WiFi networking issues (my AP notes some less than stellar performance.)

Is there any solution?

Since all of my Roku devices have updated to Roku OS 9.2, I no longer have had the issue with live TV stopping and getting stuck buffering at 33%.

Things have been very solid for the last few weeks.
