2-File Movies disappearing

Server Version#: 4.52.1
Player Version#:n/a

I’m in the process of migrating media files from one location to another, following one of the support guides.
I’ve got the media files cloned from one folder to another. Same names, same folder structure apart from the top level.

All of the movies show the (2) to signify its recognised and combine the duplicate files.

My next step should be to delete the original file, leaving the duplicate. At that point plex should see the original file disappear, but leave the record pointing to the duplicate.

But what’s happening is that Plex is jut removing the whole movie entry, losing the duplicate movie file. If I then rescan the Library, it finds the duplicate file and creates a new entry.

I’ve been testing with just one movies so far: The Empire Strikes Back (1980).mkv

Any idea what I’ve gotten wrong in the process here ?

I retested again tonight and it appears repeatable.
If I turn off “Scan my Library automatically” then Plex is simultaneously telling me that theres 2 files, its tagging it as UNAVAILABLE, and then on the File info details can see both files.

So I think this is a bug at this point.

If I’m understanding you correctly -

Looking at your last screenshot, I would expect an Empty Trash in Plex to be the last step.

That should remove references to the Unavailable files from Plex.
The /share/TR-004-N181-1-1/…/… file won’t be impacted.
