PLEX showing duplicates, but there is only one file

Server Version#: Version 4.6.4

Running on Windows 10 Pro

Player Version#: All, Apple TV, Web, etc…

This problem just started last week I think. I show the #2 on some files showing that I have a duplicate. These are all files that I deleted an existing to add a more recent version.

The problem is, PLEX is still showing the previous file exists and therefore showing a duplicate for these movies.

I’ve checked and double checked, I’ve moved the files out and re-scanned. Nothing fixes this that I can think of.

Does it show one file as deleted when you do a get info if so then empty the trash.
Plex doesn’t automatically remove them since it could be that a drive got disconnect temporally…

Yep. I ran into this problem last week and Plex simply hadn’t emptied the trash yet.

I emptied the trash, but it still shows in info. So if I go to info, it shows two files, the new actual file as well as the file that was erased already.

That didn’t work. As my final solution, what I did was enable user to delete files (in library option). Then I browsed to the movie, chose delete, and deleted any of the non-existing duplicates.

Wasn’t pretty, but it worked…

Actually my link was intended to_prevent_ these duplicates in the first place.

Your method to remove them is actually the only way, short of a full Plex Dance.
