2 instances of PlexConnect on the same network

Is it possible to have 2 instances of PlexConnect running on the same network?

I have 2 plex servers that want to be used on two ATV3s.

Should they be on different subnets?

I don't see any issues with it - you have to set different DNS addresses to each of the aTVs.

But then, why? PlexConnect is multi-aTV-multi-PMS-capable. Just run one instance, and point both aTV to the same. It will give you access to both of your servers as well.

I've set different DNS addresses to each atv.

Even tried different ip_dnsmaster on the plexconnect instances but nothing.

Is it possible for one plexconnect to point to 2 pms?

With PlexGDM enabled in PlexConnect and PMSs configured that way, your aTV/PlexConnect will pick up all those PMSs in your network, yes.

The dns_master setting is for the outgoing/forwarded DNS requests...

After enabling GDM in settings.cfg it shows all my PMSs..

Thank you!! :D

Although I would like to have separate plexconnect for each aTV but I cannot get it right!! :(

Why do you want them separate? It's "only" a converter for the PMS data anyways.

If you eg. want your sections shared differently, create separate MyPlex accounts, and give each aTV its own (plus configure PMS to require authentication).

Baa is right but it might help if you explained the need for running two instances of PlexConnect,ie the actual end goal for doing so and what you perceive the benefit to be.

I enabled “require auth.” and it is fine now!! Only minor setback is that it shows the other libraries, only the “search” function. They do not disappear completely.

The goal is to have different atvs running different plex accounts in order to preserve the wached/unwatched database.

At that point... disable PlexGDM once again, set ip_pms to some non-existing value, and let MyPlex completely figure out the aTV/PMS relation. Doing so should show you only the "own" PMS in your library view.

It's a somewhat strange approach, though. :-)

You still don't need to run two different PMS instances for this though as requiring authentication and then signing into the ATV's using the PMS account and a "shared with account" will accomplish this to an extent (in your case fully as you have a Plexpass, if not then I think it will only track the PMS owners account in the database)
