I am trying to set up a PC remotely at my sister’s house to be able to take advantage of the DVR feature, as I am unable to install an antenna at my home. The remote PC will be used exclusively for the DVR capabilities and I will continue to run the plex server from my home. Every time I sign into the Plex server at her home it makes the server at my home inaccessible and it actually removes all shares from my friends from the server at my home. It’s getting frustrating having to reboot and add back in the shares every time I want to try anything on the second server. Both need to be signed in as the same user, as I have just 1 Plex Pass and the DVR capability is exclusive to the plex pass. I have read 2 servers 1 account is possible, so what am I doing wrong?
You can use the same account, but servers need to have different names.
One PC is named plex and the other plexbackup. When the PC at my sister’s house boots up my plex app on my phone is now linked to Plex Backup instead of plex. There are no movies on the plex back up drive, so nothing shows up as available.
do you not see both server to choose from ?, what client are you using ?
Has one server been cloned from the other? Or was the second setup from scratch ?
Having multiple servers with the same machine identifier (internal Plex Media Server registry / preferences setting) would give indeterminate outcomes
This is an old PC that had the same server - I have uninstalled and reinstalled plex with the same results - but maybe need to do more than an uninstall

You gave me enough info to get there - did an uninstall deleted registry, and local app data - all good now - thanks!
