2nd crash log review please

I am trying to learn how to do this myself. My last crash about a week ago MAY have been related to LPE errors. I had another “crash” tonight and I am hoping the community here can give me some assistance.

First of all, the symptoms. I was using the Roku client to watch a movie when about 2/3 of the way through it stopped playing, I watched the load bar progress from zero percent to one hundred percent and then it started playing again. I’ve got an 8-core i7 server, so it shouldn’t be an issue with the server not keeping up.

The crash happened about 30 seconds before I ran to the server and grabbed a log dump (around 20:11 on 16 JUL)

My analysis:
I still see LPE errors. Hmmm… Why would I keep on getting this error? Could it be indicative of some other hardware fault???
In the Plex Media Server.1.log file, at 20:11:20.400 there are some interesting log entries. I think that is when the crash occurred. Some “MDE” log entries??? What are those? Plus an “Invalid frame rate” error and direct play being disabled. Those entries can’t be good.

So, while I have found what I think are the correct log entries, I’m not sure what to do with them. I’m not sure why I am still getting LPE errors. I’ve got plex scheduled maintenance enabled each day and everything is checked except “Update all libraries during maintenance”.

Any ideas???

LPE is not a hardware fault. PMS is expecting media or metadata to be somewhere and it’s getting an error trying to evaluate (resolve) the path. Broken symlinks are the most common cause. Second most common is a remote host mount (FUSE) which isn’t connected or times out. Third are those situations where hard system halts have caused pieces of metadata to be lost (can happen). For these, “Refresh all metadata” rebuilds everything.

Your logs are showing sync errors. Since the LPE errors occur with the sync errors, there is apparently inconsistency there. The only real recourse is to delete and resync until resolved because it would take digging in the database and finding the actual missing pathname.

In addition to everything running during maintenence (which is good), have you run a ‘Clean Bundles’ after you “Update Libraries” and “Empty Trash” ? This clears up metadata .

I was using a Roku client, so I am not sure what syncing would have to do with the crash. I didn’t sync the movie to the roku.

I don’t see an option to have it automatically clean bundles and empty trash during the periodic maintenance. Can you tell me how to set that up?
