Regarding PMP & HDR, see below thread. It would seemingly apply to Plex for Mac/Win as well, as it and PMP are both based on mpv.

Plex for Mac/Win is also based on mpv. However, it cannot be configured with a mpv.conf file:

You’re right about Plex Web, at least on Windows. No HEVC support, much less HDR, so transcodes have that lovely washed out look.

It seems as if Safari supports HEVC. No idea if that means Plex Web on Safari direct plays HEVC.
I cannot test, as my MacBook is too old.

When I’m on Safari - I expect to see a dam Elephant to take a picture of and bag at least two poachers (leg wounds - no more sneakin’ around in the Elephant patch).

I won’t be watching TV - until the Bagged Poacher Report on the Evening News.
