I have a movie that has 3 discs. I want to keep them as individual discs in my plex library, but no matter how I name them, plex combines them into one long stream or only shows one disc. How can I keep them as separate discs, 1, 2 & 3 in my library? thanks for any help.
You have 2 options:
- add all three files and after Plex has recognized all three as versions of the same movie, perform a Split action. Then rename the 3 parts accordingly.
- turn the movie into a mini series and add it into a tv show library. Doing so will require you to change the naming of your files as if they were 3 episodes of the same series.
Then you will also have to provide the metadata yourself (unless the movie is actually already listed as a mini series on either IMDb.com or TheMovieDB.org)
I’d suggest Otto’s option 1, but to do this you need to change your movie file names. You are falling for a system Plex does to combine multi-file movies into one entry, as seen here. The link should take you straight to it, if not scroll to the section titled Movies Split Across Multiple Files. Make sure your filenames do NOT use any of these keywords to describe the parts, or else Plex will combine them into one entry with no option to “split apart”.
