3D support with tags and separate files

Server Version#: 1.25.5.5492
Player Version#:N/A

I have a bunch of 3D movies, some SBS and some O/U. When I have 3D movies I like to also keep the non 3D version and name the 3D movies with a 3D suffice. I also have a 3D collection that I tag the 3D movies with.

Unfortunately, periodically the server will lose the tagging and metadata for the 3D movies due to the added 3D at the end of their name. This usually then merges the non-3D movie into the 3D movie when I re-match the 3D version, and then I have to manually split them, retag them, figure out which was 3D and which was not, etc. This is a major hassle that is solved really well with the various types of movies we have (like if you have an SD, HD, 4K, and 4K HDR movie). Why can’t something be implemented that supports these movies better? I know not many people have 3D TVs, but it is a real hassle to have to go and fix the library pretty frequently when this mess resurfaces. Please figure out some good way to tag and differentiate these movies. Thank You.

Am I the only one who has this request? How can I keep both 3D and non 3D movies together and be able to select 3D only when the TV supports it (I can set that flag in settings of my Plex Player, whether the TV it is connected to supports 3D) and then a 3D option will show up on the main play screen for those movies that have a 3D version (we could tag it in the name like we do quality, for example have a “1080p.3D” in the name). Please try and make this easier than it is…
