[Feature Request] 3D Support / Identification

Hi
First of all I love Plex… Awesome system and platform.

I am having a problem though distinguishing in the movie library my 3D movies.

When I add 3D to my iTunes library (Using iFlicks 2) I add [3D] to the end of the title and file name so that I can easily identify them on my Apple TV.

My Plex server is set to monitor my iTunes folders but as it doesn’t use the metadata or file names already attached to the m4v file it doesn’t preserve the 3D part of the file name or title.

I would love to see Plex offer a way of grouping and identifying 3D movies.

I noticed that when I have a 2D copy and a 3D copy, Plex combines them together and puts a small 2 at the top left of the cover art, I then need to split them and work out which is which.

I would suggest that when a 2D and 3D copy is Grouped \ Combined as it already does, that and option is given when starting the movie to play the 2D or 3D version.

Another added 3D feature would be to force a 3D movie into 2D so it can be played on non 3D TV’s and Projectors.

Thanks again

The only way I’ve been able to do this is to make a separate library strictly for 3D content. So I have the movie in the main library and a 3d version in the other library.

I have to have separate library entries for movies that have alternate endings, too. This can be confusing, since watching one doesn’t mark the other as watched.

This is about the best way I know of…

I too, keep my 3D movies in a separate “3D Movies” library.

i noticed that if i have a 3d version and a 2d version that Plex combines them and places a small 2 in the top left corner. I have to tell plex to split them so i can select the 3d version and it is a matter of trial and error to work out the 3d from 2d. it would be nice if Plex could group them as it does but have the option when playing to select the 3d or 2d version.

I just use “3D” in the folder name on my server. Using the info button I can easily see which version is 3D when splitting.
