4-5 most recent PMS updates failing

Good day, I run my server seperate from my main PC and have always performed updates from said main PC.
I get informed, I remote over into the media server and prepare for any eventual dialog boxes, and start the update from the main PC.

But, for at least the last 4 or 5 updates (probably more actually) there haven’t been any dialog boxes, and the update has failed every time. I’ve had to download the latest release from plex.tv and install (or ‘repair’ in some cases) manually and restart the computer once it’s complete.

I just performed this operation on the latest version 1.4.1.3362-77c6a4f80.

Remoted to media server
Started update from main PC
Main PC’s plex web window still showed “Check for Updates” and “Up to Date” with version 1.3.4 even though the server was in the process of updating.
Plex was closed and the Plex Update Service ran for 15-20 minutes
Finally gave up and restarted
Downloaded 1.4.1.3362-77c6a4f80
Installed (repaired) the installation and restarted
Plex started with windows, then immediately closed and the update service started running again and has been for another 15 minutes at this point.

I’m guessing I should just uninstall and reinstall Plex at this point, but I am curious if this has been seen and dealt with already and I just can’t find the information here.

Ok… So I went ahead and uninstall/restart/reinstalled Plex and restarted again.

Now, the Plex Update Service has been running for about a half hour with no end in sight.

No Plex server, no nothing… :frowning:

Any ideas?

End story…

After a couple of imaginative re-installs, I figured the issue must be in my existing plexdata folder. Renamed it, had it create a new one, and am currently re-indexing the whoooooole thing.

Looks like we’re good to go once it gets done.
