I’m on the same version as op, unable to update to the newest version. I’ve been unable to update for a while, I’ve tried several times. I’ve tried updating through the web interface as well as downloading and running the install file manually. When trying to install through the web interface I can see a very brief “Something went wrong” message before it pops back to “Download Updates”. If i try to install by running the installer file manually nothing happens after I hit install, the progress bar never moves. I’ve also tried to run repair and uninstall - same here.
What should I do? :\

Have you tried:
- stop/quit plex server
- stop the ‘Plex Updater Service’ from the Windows services control panel
- perform a regular uninstallation using the Windows Software/Apps control panel (do not use ‘uninstaller’ software like Revo etc!)
- Then reboot Windows
- try running the installer with the new Plex version again.
If the installation fails again, try to find the log file of the installer.
Look for it either
here: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server\Logs\Installer Logs
or in the general temp folder for your user %LOCALAPPDATA%\Temp

I had tried all that, none of it worked.
However, I just ran windows update and after all updates was installed, updating PMS worked like it should.
Maybe the problems was due to some failed .NET Framework updates?

In order to Manually UPDATE PLEX :
1–This work after You have DOWNLOADED from Your PLEX and it won’t INSTALL it.
2- The Downloaded Update is inside the (AppData ) Folder
3–If your Folder SETTINGS / OPTIONS are @ Default you won’t be able to SEE (AppData ) Folder.
So go inside File Explorer / Click on VIEW / Options / Change Folder And Search Options / View / and UNCHECK
( Show Hidden Files, Folders and Drives ) at least in My Windows 8.1 is how I can only SEE ( AppData )
4–NOW Lets go to ( AppData ) to Manually Update PLEX:
Go inside C Drive / User / Go to the Folder with YOUR NAME on it / AppData / Local / Plex Media Server / Updates /
Now you will see ALL Updates you have Downloaded just Open / Click To Install the one with the Newest Date…That’s It Your now have the Newest Update! Enjoy!
