I’ve lately been trying to watch a 4k movie on my new tv (TCL EP680), unfortunately without success. It keeps buffering every 5-15 s. I kinda figured out WHY that happens. The movie has a bitrate of 60000 kbps meaning i would need atleast that in terms of speed to watch it without buffering. In my dashboard though, the networkspeed is constantly between 40-67 mbps. Is that possibly the issue?
Thing is, i’m streaming locally in my lan network. It’s connected with an ethernet cable so no instability. Plex itself says, in the dashboard, that I have 124 mbps available with that device.
I’m direct streaming, both audio and video so no transcoding and thus no cpu. I also put my file on an ssd, just in case even though my HDD should’ve been more then sufficient.
So no i/o bottleneck.
The plexmedia server is sitting ontop of 16 GB Ram, installed on an NVMe and with a 9700K.
Any ideas what else I could do to make it not buffer?
