I have an issue when I play back some 4K files on my TCL Google tv, 4K direct play is choppy and/or buffers constantly.

When I tell it to transcode to a lower resolution it plays fine.

I’m running plex in a ubuntu docker setup with a Ryzen 9 5900x and a Nvidia 3060 12gb for transcoding. Everything is connected via ethernet.

The TV’s Ethernet port is 100 Mbps. Many 4K HDR media, such as Blu-ray rips, will burst above that rate. If that happens, you may experience buffering.

If possible, try connecting the TV via 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Most recent TVs use 802.11ac, which supports rates faster than 100 Mbps.

I tried using wifi and still had issues. It’s a 75r646 and the router is 1 foot away from the TV.
