so I have a handful of 4k HDR movies encoded on my WD MyCloud drive
PMS is on a fairly modest PC (Xeon based Dell T20)
using XBox One X as the player outputting to a 4k TCL Roku TV S405
everything on the network is gigabit.
It doesn’t seem to work very well if at all. It seems to be choking on the content which I sort of don’t understand. There should not be a need to transcode anything - it should be piping the content straight from the myCloud to the XBox and lord knows there is enough horsepower in that XBox to handle to the video decoding.
Also, I have yet to see the HDR flag on my TV which means that data is not coming through either.
I checked a blu ray rip and no problems.
I assume that either the encode is not what I think it is and the XBox can’t handle it and hence Plex is trying to push a 4k encode through my PC (not happening) or something is choking the data along the way because gigabit really ought to be enough?
Thoughts? Petty jokes?
