4K movie playback problem

I don’t know if this subject has already been discussed, but we have been having playback problems on 4K movies since the last update.

@Godthannos did a lot of tests but the problem is still there (also for me) with the help of @EVOTk .

Here are the models we have: Synology DS920+ and DS218Play

Unfortunately I don’t understand French, but without logs, its hard to guess.

Have you tried downgrading to a previous PMS build?

I do believe there are some known issues with synology DSM 7, does this apply to you @

edit: I guess probably not, since it says dsm 6 in your linked topic

The downgrade has been tested on Plex.
In fact Plex doesn’t crash, because we can read the other movies (1080p for example).
It’s only with 4K movies, that we have a problem. (The movie doesn’t start)

I will ask to @Godthannos if he can send to us logs to move forward on this subject :slight_smile:

thank you for your answer, Prior to the last plex server update, I had no worries about my 4k HDR movies, direct play or transcoding.
Even with 4 users on the server in 4K HDR no worries.
The problem does not come from the parameters of my server because I took a long time to configure it perfectly thanks to the advice of the forum.
For information I have a dedicated fiber for the NAS of 1gb / s and 1.5gb / s for the rest of the house so no connection problem too.
I tried to downgrade my version of plex server it’s the same story.
As soon as I come home tonight I put the logs for you

I understand, how then to explain while my films in 4k work perfectly and 5min after having made the update nothing more works, I donwgrade plex server on 4 different donwgrade.
My plex client has always worked and powered directly by ethernet cable and the settings I applied have always worked and have never changed.
I will still put the server log if nothing shows a failure on the server side I would then see on the client side
Or a DNS problem on the NAS side, I don’t know …

I also want to add that my friends who are connected to my library all use different clients, lg tv, nvidia shield pro, ipad and yet nobody manages to play a movie in 4k because the movie does not stop loading every 2 seconds or directly an error during the launch, it is good that there is a problem on the server

I deleted my old plex server yesterday to create a new one to see if there was a difference, but on the old one it was the same the films do not work, too bad I did not save the logs, and for the renaming of the plex films, it works fine without the plex naming before but I’m going to rename them anyway to make it right.
I will wait and see if with another update that fixes the problem, thank you very much for your answers :slight_smile:
