4K Only Shows 1080p Option on Browsers

Server Version#: 1.18.8.2527
Player Version#: 4.28.3
When I filter my movie library by 4K Resolution, the correct films show up. When I click on one, it only shows the option to play as 1080p (I do have 1080p optimized copies of each film).

On the iOS app, they let me play as 4K…any idea what’s going on?

Plex knows you can’t play that in your browser?
I mean I wouldn’t try to play it in the browser even if Plex didn’t complain.

Yeah, and normally I wouldn’t, but it get’s messy to even see if the file is 4K or not. Even looking at it on the server PC in a browser shows it as 1080p.

Well… simply load one of those new super-duper player gizmos and see what it says:

Plex for ‘Whatever’ at the ‘Apps’ link below

and for the Town Car of the Player Apps:

That has a boat-load of enhanced settings - accessed within ‘TV View’ - and once set will work in any ‘View’ for as long as ‘Desktop’ view remains. It may vanish one day.

See what one of those puppies does.

I was direct playing HEVC on one of them earlier, here on the Desktop - and that can’t happen in a browser either.

I usually use PMP on my desktop, but for kicks i went in and looked to see if my web app (https://app.plex.tv/desktop in a browser) shows my 4K stuff as 1080.

It shows it properly as 4k as expected.

Did you try Play Version from the More menu (three vertical dots) on the pre-play page?

That provides the option to play the 4K version.

Use the Plex media info for this type of thing.
