4K playback issue (possible misunderstanding)

Hi,

I have a PC running Windows 10, i7 with 10 GB Ram and a Nvidia Card capable of 4K output. I have some sample movies in 4K that I have played to My LG 4K TV via HDMi to HDMi. I’m moving my PC to an upstairs room and want to stream 4K to the TV through the Network using PLEX. Now I’ve tried this by running the Plex server on the PC and the Plex app on the LG 4K TV and in the movie info on the Plex TV app it recognizes it as a 4K movie and in the playback options I get an option to playback at 4K but it just doesn’t look like 4K. If I switch and watch the same video via HDMi it looks great. If I go to the PC server the highest local streaming option is 1080p (but I’m not sure if this has anything to do with it). Any help much appreciated as I really would like to stream 4K from another room. Or if you can give me any other options.

Cheers

Hi olyscott8,
Which exact model your TV is?
Which PLEX app do you use there? (asking because there is a few of them, with different names)
Thanks!

Try forcing direct play if you can p. The server may be teanscoding
