With version 7.25.0.14185, I still have some sound problems with the MKV files that are with the AC3 5.1 sound.
Ok, the 7.25.1.14216 is out, but the problem is still exist yet.
Hi there, I have the same problem with all the latest updates on a new TCL 65". Has anyone tried X-Play as work around?
Same problem here (using the internal speakers for now). Seems plex app & tcl tv audio setup agrees with PMS to play 5.1 sound, while thr internal speakers are stereo, so no center to get the voice out, only background music and sounds in the internal onces. Iāve got the 75EP660 with Android TV 9, latest TCL firmware.
I tried using X-Play instead but the problem is identical unfortunatley. So Iāll be using the Chromecast feature or Apple TV until this is fixed. Would you say this is more a Plex or TCL problem? Wondering who to complain to.
I think I found a solution to this in Plex client for android-tv.
After you start to play the movie with EAC3 5.1, on the play menu you have the settings button. There select convert automatically instead of play original quality.
This issue is for Samsung tv also.
Do you see any transcode of the video stream then? or just audio?
I will test. I only the audio to be transcoded from EAC5.1 to Stereo (getting a new receiver next year when I move into a new appartment)
Update: For the most part it worked, but sometimes the auto-part fails and gave me a 720p resolution out of originally 1080p on a 4k screen⦠not good. This TV goes back to the shop I think
I tried with Jellyfin, and the audio problem is exist with this different media server / player software, so the problemās source is the TV.
For the 40ES560 TV the V8-R41KT01-LF1V216 firmware is out, now iām updating.
The problem still exist with the new firmware.
After updating V8-R41KT01-LF1V216 always the same problem .
I think this tv will go back to the store and still no news of TCLās .
On Plex for Samsung I can select on video settings āTranscodedā and it works on audio also. On TCL Android TV is like I already wrote.
Guys. So the app updated. New player now. Still the audio issue. So looking for a workaround while the issue is solved⦠Casting the movie or TV show from the plex app in my android phone and itās working fine, audio 5.1. I did tried to report the issue to TCL and US customer services replied its not their issue since I bought the tvin Mexico. Mexican tcl customer support first told me that it will solve by doing a factory reset (lol) and then they just said that they will send a technician to check the TV. But itās obviously not a hardware issue.
On my tv 40ES560, the chromecast does not work anymore and so I can not send me sent plex on the TV but when it worked, I had no 5.1 sound.
For the problem to come from the television because I have a Sony TV 2015 and Nvidia Shield TV 2017 and it works well with them.
Kodi + Plex add-on works fine, EAC3 is direct-played (the codec is enabled in Kodi settings) and everything works well. Same in VLC.
Itās just in the official Plex app that I canāt get it to work even though my TV decodes DD+ for sure.
Will try the kodi add on. It is simple just to cast but the ideal would be just browsing from the plex media catalog directly on the TV.
no one on this thread has posted logs (client and server) that recreate the problem.
no one has posted a screenshot of the plex web > dashboard, to see what plex is sending out, if any transcoding is happening, whether the tv client is showing local or remote.
no one has stated whether they are using only the built in speakers, or a soundbar (which/what brand?), or a receiver with ARC enabled.
in short, there is a lot of complaining and not a lot of troubleshooting or details.
I have a roku/tcl 55 (2017 or 2018 model I forget), hooked to a 4k atmos receiver, and my 5.1 is fine.
granted, the roku tvs are different than android tvs.
finally, in any case, VLC and KODI are entirely different applications and cannot be compared to plex.
hi guys,
I recently bought a tcl es560 / android 8 with same problem on ac3 5.1 using built in speakers but Dts 5.1 works fine.
Both with direct play through server⦠i also noticed that ac3 5.1 movies video stutters a little bit on new and old player ⦠while dts ones are perfect
casting from phone (ios) to tv works perfectly on sound, transcoding from ac3 5.1 to aac however small stuttering on video remains (direct play)
Maybe an option to force aac transcoding can help solving the sound issue ⦠not sure if anyone is experience that stuttering on ac3 5.1 moviesā¦
I also tested, and the EAC3 sound is crap on the TV, but if I casting from my Android phone to the TV in the Plex client, the EAC3 sound is working normally, so the TV Android OS, or the Plex TV client is the faulty.
The transcoding is not possible for me, because my media server has one Intel Atom N270 CPU.
I end up installing kodi, and the plex add on⦠Itās just like the plex app and it does works fine. Even better than casting.
+1 for this solution, works a treat.
Tried that but i always get a plex error check log for more information when starting the pluginā¦
Any suggestions on how to make this work ?
